Angry Birds Star Wars

Android Police review: Angry Birds Star Wars Review: Revenge Of A New Hope Returns Again

Yes, yes, we know - it's abominable, a bastardized licensing cash-grab sacrificing a pop culture gem to a mobile gaming fad. But here's the surprising thing about Angry Birds Star Wars: it's actually a pretty cool addition to the franchise. The new themed powers are fun, as is the modified low-gravity physics engine, and the ability to remove ads from the free version with an in-app purchase is a nice touch. Those of you on tablets will almost need to buy the HD version, thanks to undersized UI elements. (By the way, if you love, and I mean love Star Wars puns, you can't miss Eric's review, above.)

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... a group of desperate rebel birds faced off against a galactic menace: the Empire’s evil Pigtroopers. Rebel birds, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Imperial Pigs. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the PIG STAR, and are racing to deliver the plans to the Rebel Birds. Now they need your help. Join an epic adventure with the Angry Birds in the legendary Star Wars™ universe. Use the Force, wield your lightsaber, and blast away Pigtroopers on an intergalactic journey from the deserts of Tatooine to the depths of the Pig Star -- where you’ll face off against the terrifying Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Pigs. Can you become a Jedi Master and restore freedom to the galaxy?

Expendable Rearmed

Android Police review: Expendable Rearmed Review: Everything Explodes, And That's Alright

When the humble G1 debuted, who'd have thought we'd be getting full 3D Dreamcast ports in a few short years? That's the case for Expendable Rearmed, a much-loved top-down shooter from the silver age of gaming in the late 90s. Expendable works on anything running Android 2.2 or later, but it's optimized for Tegra hardware. The concept is simple: there are a lot of aliens out there, and you've got to kill them all. So here's an apple and a gun. Don't talk to strangers. Shoot them.

Classic arcade action shooter, addictive gameplay brought up to date. Retrobomb proudly presents... The PC and DREAMCAST 1999 classic arcade shooter brought right up to date on your ANDROID Handheld device. For the last 500 years, among the bleak and barren worlds that exist in deep space, mankind has expanded its horizons. The most suitable planets and moons near Earth have been terraformed, turning the once-inhospitable wastelands into habitable places. Deeper and deeper into the universe mankind spread itself, until only a mere handful of humans would or could survive the journey. These distant worlds became industrial powerhouses colonized by few human beings. Although they had to forego the comforts of home, they still managed to scratch out a living in the newly-fertile lands. For all he knew, man was alone in the vastness of space, until they came... The G'neng. You are given control of a clone army of Expendable units, dropped in one by one, rearmed to battle for the last human settlements which have been overrun by the G'neng, a malevolent bio-mechanical alien race.

Beat Hazard Ultra (Demo)

Android Police coverage: Beat Hazard Ultra Comes To The Play Store, Offers To Bring The Bullets If You'll Bring The Music

This game might give you seizures. That's not a joke, it's right there in the intro. Even so, the crazy visuals of Beat Hazard may just be worth it. If screen-filling attacks, dazzling colors, and breakneck pace aren't enough shooter goodness for you, it also syncs up to your own music. Put in some Sinatra for a chill experience, or blast the dubstep to play until the phone pops out of your sweaty hands.

Gameplay Powered by YOUR Music. Experience YOUR music collection as never before with this intense music driven arcade shooter. Wreck-it Ralph by Disney

Android Police coverage: Disney's 'Wreck-It Ralph' Game Goes Official In Google Play, Lets You Play The Bad Guy Gone Good

Wreck-It Ralph is awesome. If you've ever sat in front of a Genesis on Saturday morning or blown an allowance worth of quarters on Space Invaders, go see it now. Afterwards, feed your nostalgia with the official mobile game, which lets you play some of the fictional (well, not anymore, I guess) games from the movie. Fix-It Felix is based on Donkey Kong, Sweet Climber looks a lot like Ice Climbers, and Hero's Duty plays like a dual-stick shooter (similar to Age of Zombies).

Pixel Twist by Noodlecake

Android Police coverage: [New Game] Noodlecake's Pixel Twist Is A Colorful, Relaxing 'Little Zen Exercise'

Full disclosure: I'm not a fan of zen games. If something doesn't explode or die within sixty seconds, I'm usually out. But for those of you who do enjoy them, put down the paraphernalia for a moment and check out Pixel Twist. The object is to rotate a field of 3D pixels until it matches a pixelated shape. It sounds simple, but the difficulty ramps up quickly.

A unique little "zen exercise" in which you rotate a cloud of pixels... The critically acclaimed game featured on Wired.com, kotaku and FHM is now available for Android - with a new twist. Pixel Twist is the special Android version of the unique flash based pixel rotating puzzle game, "Coign of Vantage" by indie developer bobblebrook. Pixel Twist is a unique little "zen exercise" (kotaku), in which you rotate a cloud of pixels until they line up and form the required image, almost like magic.

For the 5% of you who will still have it in your head next week, consider buying Paranormal Blast for the nostalgia factor alone. Red Wing Ikaro Racing

You know what's more awesome than planes? Multiple planes, racing though the air in a three-dimensional kart game. Crazy plane designs and exotic tracks will help you overlook the crazy-slow servers for the 300mb of Red Wing Ikaro game assets. Most of the reviews in the Play Store are claiming hours of downloading time on a good connection. It's optimized for Tegra devices, but doesn't require them.

Red Wing : the air racing challenge is here : Become the next Air Master. With Red Wing (Ikaro) Racing you are the pilot of high performance airplanes racing for life at low altitude against a fleet of colorful peers in a breathtaking scenario, working your way from apprentice to full-fledged ace pilot. To download the game assets we recommend using a wireless connection.Enjoy and explore the magnificent scenario of the city with all its skyscrapers,

fly at low altitude over the water of a calm laguna at dusk, enjoy the beauty of an Arizona canyon under the noon sun.

MY LITTLE PONY

Alright, I am not giving any validation to the insufferably brony population. This is a My Little Pony game for Android. It lets you build a town Sim-style, has a bunch of kindergarten-grade mini-games, and features the voice "talent" from the show. Also: it's Gameloft. That's it. If anyone tries to put an adorable image macro in the comments, I will find an actual pony and punch it in the muzzle.

Saddle up for adventure with Twilight Sparkle & friends. After being locked away in the moon for centuries, Nightmare Moon is set free and spreading night across Ponyville. Only Twilight Sparkle and her friends can free Ponyville from her grasp, and bring light and friendship back to the land. Help them rebuild the town and reach their dreams in exciting quests.

✰Your favorite ponies are here: Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack, and more.

✰ Make your Ponyville the most magical place in Equestria.

✰ Play fun mini-games with your ponies: Ball Bounce, Apple-Picking and Magic Wings.

✰ Interact with your friends and feel the Magic of Friendship.

✰ Enjoy official TV show voice talents featured in the game.

Daredogs

If we learned one thing from Pixar's Up, its that dogs make surprisingly good pilots, despite the lack of opposable thumbs. Daredogs plays a lot like MiniSquadron, with a surprisingly linear story and upgradeable planes. Also, 10% of the sales go to dog shelters! (Really.)

Fly hero dog Bravo to victory in the Daredogs air combat tournament. Daredogs - Dog characters, dog fight, air combat events and a cool story all smacked together to form a best, fun and free air game. We will give away 10% of our income to chosen dog shelters and other pet based charities. Should we breach the 5 million download mark, we will bump that up to 20%. Visit http://daredogs.fi for more information. Equip your tennisball cannon, jump in the best free air game and shoot like an ace. Help Bravo lead his team into victory in the rough Daredogs tournament.

Zombie Highway

An Android Police game roundup isn't complete without that timeless classic: undead monstrosities from beyond the grave. This is a game where you drive and kill zombies. No, this is not Zombie Driver. Zombie Highway has you hitting zombies from a more conventional third-person driver perspective.

The iOS hit Zombie Highway is now available on Android. Zombie Highway was rebuilt from the ground up for Android. A completely redesigned UI gets you playing sooner and unlocking weapons faster. We hope you'll appreciate the effort we have made to create a first class Android experience, not just a minimum effort port. Cars, guns, and zombies... what more could you want?

Tiny Troopers

Remember the Army Men games on PlayStation and N64? Yeah, this is that. With blood. Touch controls add a new dimension to the title, allowing for precise controls a la Battalion Wars 2. Tiny Troopers is free, but the early version seems to have a lot of performance issues.

Size doesn't matter to these miniature men of war as they take on a big enemy. Take control of a petite platoon of crack soldiers in a variety of wee warzones as you battle through an epic third-person-shooter campaign. Military-grade strategy, intense shooter action, outstanding 3D visuals and a wry smile make Tiny Troopers an unmissable combination of manic combat, monumental mirth and miniature marines.

Clear Vision (12+)

If "Falling Down" was a video game... it would probably have more subtlety than Clear Vision. You're a blue-collar worker who's had enough, and decides to moonlight as a sniper. There's some basic story told in Flash-style cutscenes as well, which makes sense, since that's where Clear Vision started.

Assassinate your targets with clean headshots in this award-winning sniper game. Tyler is an ordinary guy whose patience gets pushed too far. After getting fired as a supermarket cleaner he begins a violent career as a professional hitman. This, however, is also the beginning of social decline, false friends and a spiral of deception. Watch out. You can´t trust anyone

Anger of Stick 2 by Miniclip

Violence is never the answer. Unless you're being overrun by an army of stick figures. Then you can use a set of oddly realistic weapons to mow 'em down. Doodle heroes and villains attack you in side-scroller fashion in Anger of Stick 2, which, yes, includes lots of boomsticks.

Can you survive the attack of the doodle enemies? Get this FREE adventure now. Unknown enemies emerge in the city. Our Stick hero continues to fight them off with a wide array of deadly weapons as well as helicopters and robots, who can devastate all enemies at once. Experience the game's 3 different modes:

- Jump Jump: Where you must go up and keep jumping to avoid falling behind, while defeating enemies at the same time.

- Survival: Kill all the enemies and survive as long as you can.

- Doodle Runner: run for as long as you can, while avoiding hazards and collecting money to spend in weapons upgrades.

Draw a Stickman: EPIC Free

OK, this one's pretty cool: you get to draw your own hero, as simple or complicated as you like, and then navigate a world with drawing-based tools. Think of it as Harold and the Purple Crayon for adults. You'll have to think creatively in order to get past the puzzles, and with multiple branching paths, there's a good bit of replay in Draw a Stickman.

Draw a stickman, then guide him through a fantastic world of adventure. Using an assortment of pencils, draw elements, tools, and weapons to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. Draw a Stickman Epic could be compared to an adventure game, RPG, or puzzle game, but the unique drawing mechanic is unlike any game you've ever played before. From drawing a rain cloud for growing plants to drawing an axe for chopping down a gate, you control all aspects of your environment.

This Could Hurt Free

Navigate through a strangely blocky castle in This Could Hurt. Oh yes, there will be blood non-specific pain. Forty levels to navigate through will keep you busy avoiding traps and using tools. The 3D graphics are pretty charming as well.

Test every aspect of your skill in an invigorating arena of hilarious hazards. You are an Oakguard apprentice. One day you’ll be a fully fledged Oakguard, charged with protecting the Great Oak—the tree that gives life and power to your village. But first you must survive the Path of Pain. Avoid spinning blades, pitfalls, giant mallets and more in this unique puzzle-packed adventure. Guide your character with one-touch controls, choosing the perfect time to stop or go.

Sleepwalker's Journey

Remember Kirby In Dreamland? This is kinda like that - same platformy goodness, same tight controls, same sense that the devs were probably on acid at the time. Sleepwalker's Journey follows the adventures of Moonboy as he gets to the safety of his bed, navigating terrifying vistas and fighting monsters to do so. Don't let your toddlers play this one after 5 PM.

Meet drowsy Moonboy. Blown out of bed by a big lunar sneeze, he sleepwalks through dreams. Moonboy needs your help to reach his bed. Guide him safely through various traps, clear obstructions from his path, and shift his surroundings to create a safe passage to the cozy bed. Solve environment puzzles in a fantasy world, find multiple pathways through the game, and collect stars and crescents to experience the beauty of Sleepwalker’s Journey fairytale atmosphere.

You are Moonboy’s only guardian, and your imagination is the key that shapes the dream, as you lead the boy to his beloved bed. You are the dream creator.

International Boxing Champions

It's been too long since Super Punch Out. If you agree, then the slightly less catchy International Boxing Champions is for you. It doesn't have Mike Tyson, but it's got the same basic bob and weave gameplay, with some flashy new graphics to boot.

International Boxing Champions. Classic Arcade Action. Only on Android. Train your fighter to compete against 8 of the toughest boxers in the world.

Stick Cricket Super Sixes

Cricket baffles me. It's like baseball, only more boring, and also British. But my Indian friends stay up until 1 AM to see India vs Australia, so there must be something worthwhile about it. For those with that kind of dedication, Stick Cricket Super Sixes lets you play Super 6 against a computer opponent. (That's like Home Run Derby. With crumpets.)

It’s man vs machine in the ultimate test of your batting skills. The creators of the chart-topping Stick Cricket®, the most popular cricket game in the world, bring you Super Sixes - a revolutionary new batting game. Instead of facing mere mortals, your opponent is the state-of-the-art Bowlomatic 3000: a sadistic bowling machine that is hell bent on wiping you out. Smash as many sixes as you can but be wary, as the Bowlomatic 3000 has plenty of tricks up his proverbial sleeve to ensure a harrowing time at the crease.

International Snooker Pro THD

Speaking of extremely British things, those who just really love the pool variant should try International Snooker Pro THD. Michaela Tabb, apparently something of a celebrity in the highly contested world of snooker refereeing, calls the shots. (Snooker? But I just met her!) This one's got some impressive graphics and physics, which makes sense, because it's a Tegra-only title for the moment.

International Snooker returns bigger, better and bursting with features taking all cue gaming to new heights. International Snooker Pro Tegra HD, brings more features, enhanced audio and visuals and hundreds of hours of gameplay.

• A Career Mode places you in a full ‘rolling’ year on year professional snooker career, playing 15 tournaments in 14 locations around the world competing to be world number 1.

• Fill your trophy cabinet with 16 trophies from 7 major and 7 minor events, 1 invitational event plus the coveted 147 trophy.

• Includes three Quick Play Pool modes: UK 8-ball, US 8-ball and US 9-Ball.

• Use Career Mode winnings to upgrade equipment to increase power, swerve, spin and player kudos.

• Frame by frame replays with slow motion and dynamic cameras including pocket cams and the new ‘follow the ball’ cam.

• Referee voiced by Michaela Tabb the world’s favourite referee of snooker and pool competitions.
