For many users, if an official firmware update for their device isn't available, a leaked ROM will do just as well. Owners of Samsung's International Galaxy SII (I9100) willing to run leaked firmware will be happy to know that today, XDA user izap has provided Jelly Bean 4.1.2 (build JZO54K.I9100XXLSJ) firmware for all to enjoy.

Of course, there have been rumblings that the SII will receive an official update to 4.1 this month, but sooner is always better, right? Users are reporting that the leaked build is working just fine, though as with any unreleased firmware, your mileage may vary. Those thinking about installing the leaked firmware should know that their device will (unsurprisingly) be wiped in the process, and recovery will be overwritten.

It's also worth noting that you'll need to use Odin to install the leaked build. Conveniently, user izap has included Odin in the list of download links you can find at the original XDA thread. To grab the downloads and keep up with the discussion, you know what to do to the link below.

this will work on the i727 right?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

I wouldn't bet on that - it will almost certainly not.

    • donttrollmepeople

like he said. but the reason why is the qualcomm chip and other hardware that is different.

  • NicholasMicallef

Hopefully this means most the problems with CM10 on this device get fixed. Also I must say Touchwiz Nature UX looks much better on this device than the TW 4 in the current official version.

    • Darius_bd

Not at all. Most devs are burnt out of working too hard to get CM10 to some stable state. They dont want to go that way again by reverse engineering the leaked files. If by replacing them, stuff stops working then they wont do much other than waiting for sources. And knowing the record of Samsung, that could not happen in a long while.

Yeah, the audio libraries have been rev-eng'd by the Replicant folk I guess, and they seem to be heading to that open source code. Closed source binary libs/blobs are being eliminated as much as possible, in order to be able to fix issues.

And Samsung devs still aren't too happy with Samsung's lack of info and source code. Neither am I because I'm struggling with the audio chip for low level access.

Woot! This is good news for CM10!! :D

      Nope. Read the forum.

    >Touchwiz
Not interested. Besides, I've been running custom 4.1.2 for ages now. Why would anybody who likes to change their rom choose Touchwiz rom over a custom rom that updates constantly, and has been running JB for months?

    • George

for better battery.. custom jb roms suck on that

      • donttrollmepeople

        i am at 1d 8h 42m 28% on aokp.

        • adam_hui

    • Cheeseball

Proper hwcomposer support, which means working Project Butter (vsync) and other speed improvements.

      • donttrollmepeople

yah i will probably load it up and check it out. if the dropdown doesnt turn my stomach and make me feel like i am back in the stone age ill keep it for a bit.

    • Tim Kermode

Better media support, built in dlna support, working MHL. Just a few reasons I want to go back to Sammy roms.

    • fixxmyhead

      u got told by @google-4d2b723ae1cc4900bfe6bcd5ecc9a852:disqus and @quesodebola:disqus

also touch to focus on the camera works on touchwiz

This ROM is much better than AOKP or CM10 (which I used previously to installing this ROM).

I have to wait since my S2 is the i777. :(

    • donttrollmepeople

hell its probably already deodexed and ported over by now.

      • vs8

Sadly it's not. Nobody has even created a thread about that Rom on the i777 forums yet.

    • Mark

I've been running 4.1 on my i777 for over 2 months now. AOKP JB. Task650 and Ktoonez.

      • vs8

Me too, as soon as the CM10 preview came out.

I don't know what happened to me there, maybe too sleepy?

I wanted to say is that I have to wait for Project Butter. :)
