If you're a resident of the US waiting for your chance at one of the new Nexus devices, you've no doubt been growing envious as countries around Europe (and Australia) got to place their own orders before (and after) the rumored 12am PST launch time for the US.

Well, I've got some (kind of) good news – the wait is almost over. Google has confirmed to us that both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 will be open for order to US Play Store customers beginning tomorrow, Tuesday November 13th, 2012 at 9:00am PST. The confirmation comes via a quick call to the Nexus support line (1-855-83-NEXUS).

That should give you a few hours to go back to bed, wake up, and get your credit cards ready.

    awesome, good night and thanks

  • mad

no sources cited. really cool bro. what if they do it at 8am. you just want to hog it all to yourself.

    • GazaIan

"The confirmation comes via a quick call to the Nexus support line (1-855-83-NEXUS)."

Read the article. You might learn something.

      • No thanks

That line knows nothing trust me I work there and am reading blogs like this to get answers on launch times

        • GazaIan

          "That line knows nothing"

Yet, the Nexus 4 and 10 launched exactly at 9AM like they stated. Turns out you're the one who knows nothing.

          • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com/ Cody Toombs

It was more like 8:30. it took me over 10 minutes to get my order in and it was still done before 9 am. According to Google Wallet, my transaction took place at 8:43 am.

      • chokkan

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that there was no source at the time he replied.

  • Jason

What is the source of this? Phone call to support? Or what?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Phone call to support. We'll clarify.

  • http://twitter.com/DasFlow Florian

If it's anything like the european launch A LOT of people will be disappointed because the devices will sell out in minutes. And for those actually managing to put one into their basket will experience wallet crashes all day.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Unless Google gave every country 100 devices and kept the other 100k for U.S.

      • Wude

Or they're saving most of the units to create a boom of it.
1st day 5k units around the world. = Great 1st day
2nd day 40k around the world. = Great 1st week

      • Rahul

or low demand in US because of LTE factor

      • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com/ Cody Toombs

Curious, did that 100k number come from anywhere or is it just made up? A buddy and I were both talking specifically about how large the first run would be. 100k sounds impossibly low given the high monthly sales figures of the Nexus 7.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

          I made it up.

          • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com/ Cody Toombs

You may have made it up, but with the speed these things old out at, I think you weren't far from the truth. 25 minutes for a sellout in the US (on the 16 gb, 40 minutes for total sell out) is pretty remarkable. I knew they would go fast, I didn't really think they would go in under an hour in every country.

  • Cesar Andreu

What was your confirmation source? Just calling their customer service reps, or did you actually contact someone else working with Google?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Google Play phone support - this has been floating around, but we confirmed ourselves as well.

      • Cesar Andreu

Thanks! I guess I'll try my luck at 9AM PST. Probably gonna be a good idea to try our luck a bit earlier, just in case.

  • fenixjr

LIES! they just want to trick us to go to sleep so all the androidpolice staff can buy them all! jk

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Our genius plan, foiled. Time for plan B.

  • Bakaouji

haha. Even if you heard it on the phone it's not necessarily true. In Australia we called them up countless of times to ask about the release time/stock availability, and they gave conflicting information every time.

Only a few people in Google know what's going on in this fail launch.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

U.S. has a dedicated Google Play Nexus support center. We also got a confirmation from one of the reps in person before calling. I have very high confidence that it'll be correct.

Either way, we're passing the info given by multiple official Google reps.

      • Bakaouji

It's probably true then I guess. Though good luck on getting one of the 500 they have for sale :)

  • Tee

Am going to bed on your account lol. If it releases at 9 eastern you sir are responsible. But seriously though, thanks for the clarification

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Should be Pacific, but I'm setting my alarms early just in case. Like 4 hours early.

      • Vijay Krishna Yalamanchili

Just called google customer service they confirmed 9am PST

  • Danny Holyoake

But if it's anything like the rest of the world, they'll only have five Nexus 4s for sale.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Not if they're hogging them all for us U.S. folks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfUM5xHUY4M

      • ThEGr33k

Good luck to you yanks, I spent 25 mins trying to get through checkout without it crashing or timing out or clearing my cart here in the UK. Serious disappointment.

  • keda

    which store?

I woke up every hour on the hour from midnight, automatically. Now I can rest a little easier. Except I sold my GSM Nexus and must ship to the buyer today. Getting nervous now.

That's just stupid. I cannot buy N4 or N7 3G because they are out of stock. I keep trying for 4 hours and no luck. How much N4 / N7 did they have? 100 pieces?

    That's a bad joke Google!

I'm on the east coast, I was up at 12 AM as well as 3 AM with no luck, damn I'm tired for work now :(

    • Reginald Spence II

Ha, I was laying in bed debating on staying up or not. My wife even encouraged it. Glad I got me some sleep and woke up to hearing of 9am PST availability!

      • Scott

I stayed up until 12 and actually went to bed. I wasn't planning on being up at 3 but I miraculously woke up at 2:50 AM without any alarms...so I decided to stay up to check and ended up being awake until 3:30 and then I deemed it a failure, ha.

  • Franky

What disgusts me is the amount of media-coverage this launch got (or rather: didn't get), at least here in germany. The stupid iPhone5-launch was all over the news in basicly any media for days before/after/when it happened. Didn't hear anything - that is anything at all! - about this launch anywhere. If I wouldn't follow AP regularly I wouldn't even have noticed the nexus4/nexus10 existed.

F*cking editors sucking up to Apple!

  • jian9007

Last I heard it was 9AM but it was EST, not PST. So I'll continue to get my refresh on.

  • Russ Brown

Any word on store availability today?

  • tozes

If the launch will be a joke like it was in Europe, good luck guys.

  • Jared Busch

Just called Google regarding the Canadian timeline...it's the same here in Canada. So for all of North America, it's 9am Pacific Standard Time as in BC time for Canada and California time for the US. Well, back to a little COD Black Ops 2, then back to bed for 3 hours...p.s. i'm gonna beat you all and order first!!! =P hehehe

    • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com/ Cody Toombs

Just hypothesizing, because it's 5 am and it seems like a perfect time to do it. The timing for most places to go on sale, combined with the statement that devices would start shipping later the same day that they are ordered, it sounds like the times are relative to the distribution center. That wouldn't normally be interesting, but it gives a hint to those of us in the US that the Nexus 4 is probably shipping from somewhere in the west coast. Maybe I'm just being hopeful, but it means I might get it a day or two sooner than if it shipped from the east coast.

      • jordanjay29

Or Google just wants the entire US to have the same shot at a phone, and not make West Coasters get up at 5 AM for the chance. It'll be 7 AM in Hawaii at 9 AM PST, too. It just sucks for those in EST and CST who might be in class, meetings or otherwise stuck unable to purchase it at that time.

        • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com/ Cody Toombs

There's no such thing as having the same shot when time zones factor in. 9 am PST is a much better deal for people on the east coast who will be taking their lunch break at noon while the west coasters are sitting in meetings or working in a line somewhere. It's early enough that most people in Hawaii and Alaska might still be able to order before they have to be to work. If Google actually cared about even chances, they would have done it at about 6 pm PST or offered them in the same order that people requested email notifications.

I was actually hoping they would open up sales at around 2 am PST, that way the people who are most likely to get their orders are the people who actually care enough to wake up (or stay up) late enough to order it. I also think they should have split up the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10, just to reduce stress on their servers.

          • jordanjay29

I'd go for 6pm PST, that'd be much more sensible. That or 12 am PST, which was what everyone thought it would be anyways. Alas, we can't have it all. I'm supposed to have class at the time it releases, too, but with nothing on the agenda today that would hurt my grade, I'll be attending to my priorities and attempting to order a Nexus 4.

          • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com/ Cody Toombs

Lol, I know how that goes, I've skipped a couple of classes when I had more worthy goals to attend to...Danielle

I'm just glad that I'd be up and at home anyway. I need to try to get this ordered from the first batch. I really can't wait (i'm guessing 2 weeks) until there's another batch to ship out.

          • itznfb

            Lunch time baby. Can't wait.

  • neodoru

Well, didn't they confirm it will go on sale at 12AM PST?! They have no clue, that's for sure. My gut feeling is that the store's admin is drunk and they can't do it without him :P

  • Scott

I wonder how long the US inventory will last.

    • jordanjay29

Probably 10 minutes, if you can manage to add it to your cart in that time.

      • Scott

I went through a mock-run with the Nexus 7 on the Play Store. All I need to do is click 3 times to have the purchase go through. Here's hoping I can make it!

        • Sam Sullivan

Thank you for being so wise! Doing my mock-run right now. If I stayed up till 3:30AM before calling the Nexus number, I am getting a damn N4!

  • Greyhame

Is it available via the Play Store only, or can you pick it up at certain retailers (a la the N7)?

    • jordanjay29

You can buy it from T-Mobile, but your best bet is the Play Store if you're on AT&T or a non-contract network.

      • Greyhame

Thanks for the feedback. I should've been more specific... I was asking about the N10.

  • FrillArtist

  • Andreas Otte

Be prepared to be fooled ! The Nexus 4 stock was sold out in less than 20 minutes in Australia, Germany and the UK. Google is playing an evil marketing game with all of us !

  • CaptainAwesomer

I'm going to buy ten of them, and then sell them for $199 each plus $15 a month for 36 months.

    • Sam Sullivan

Sell them for $149 and $15/mo to T-Mo customers.

  • MQ

The link to 3G version does not work anymore. Also, the price is gone, but there is an AT&T logo instead.. Will it be locked?

    This link still works:

    But this one done not:

  • canucks23

man oh man are people going to be mad at android police now.. luckily i started checking an half hour early

  • CaptainAwesomer

12:47PM EST, 8GB N4, and I might have carpel tunnel syndrome from the thousand or so times I pressed CTRL-R. The important thing isn't whether or not this makes me a loser, but that I got one and lots of other people didn't.
