It looks like Samsung has posted up some fresh new open source files today, including files for the AT&T-connected Galaxy Note II. The real story, though, is that Jelly Bean open source files have also been posted for both the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, neither of which have received their official 4.1 updates just yet.

Readers may remember Samsung hinting at an impending update for these (and other devices) back in September, but the availability of these files may suggest that the update is looming very near.

If you want to get a head start tinkering with the latest firmware for the Galaxy Tab 2 family, streamline your own version of the AT&T Note II's firmware, or just peek at what makes these devices tick, you can grab the necessary files by simply clicking the right links below.

Looks like the Jelly Bean source for Sprints S3 is there as well.

As far as the Galaxy Note 2 goes, what does releasing this source code actually mean?

    • jammer

Well it's awesome for custom ROM developers

    • Vitali Dietrich

It means that custom ROM developers like the CyanogenMod Team can develop more stable and bugfree ROMs.

BTW Samsung we are still waiting for Source Code for Exynos 4210 and 4412 which is compatible for the actual devices like the SII and SIII. What you updated so far is completely useless because things like the HW-composer is still completely broken. Waiting for usable sources...

I dont want to sound like im upset....BUT HEY SAMSUNG WHERE THE F*** IS THE UPGRADE FOR OUR T-MOBILE GALAXY 3??? AND DONT BLAME T-MOBILE! THIS UPGRADE PATH HAS TO CHANGE.....STOP SCREWING YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS! Now that I got that out of my system... pardon my screaming...I shouldve learned from getting a sgs1 screwed twice....sorry samsung this is the last time... fix your update FAILURES or loose all of your smart customers.... seriously this is utter bullcrap!... I hope someone from samsung reads this site....This crap has to stop! Samsung your only F**&ing your selfs pulling this bull crap on your loyal customers!

But it's because of the provider. If you bought a unbranded phone you would receive it way faster, it's not Samsungs fault that the provider decides.

      Hello Mr Rox.
I am a member of the Samsung team.
Your comment was quite moving. The way of which you expressed your views had the majority of our staff gathered around my monitor during lunch time, we even danced with joy as we all took turns reading your wonderful comment out loud.
Oh and I did put your view (that of a loyal customer) to my superior.
      He said "Go fu*k yourself!"

      • Facebook User

Dear Samsung.... Go f*ck yourself. Unfortunately stopped responding... Happens all the time and requires phone tablet or whatever junk device you put android on to be put back to factory settings.. After about a month, same thing happens again. Maybe you should go back to making cheap microwave ovens as you can't be trusted with tablets and phones you Korean dogs! Oh and btw: YOUR SUPPORT TOTALLY SUCKS!

        • Janneman27

Then buy an iDevice...or an LG phone...or a Nokia....or a Motorola...or a BlackBerry even...companies don't listen to your words, they listen to your wallets...so stop wasting your breath and buy stuff from someone else...sheesh...people protest all over the world for freedom, then once they are free, the protest for chains...

Sansung is really leaving behind the Galaxy Tab 7.7, how disappointing..

  • Ivailo Stoyanov

Still no JB sources for Exynos 4210 devices (Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note). Good job, Samsung.

  • charl scheepers

I may sound dumb but how do you install these source codes on the tablet do you download it on the tablet directly or what do you do i am using the galaxy tab 2 10.1 and want to install the GT-P5100_JB_Opensource_Update2 is this even posible ?

    • Janneman27

I would advise you to rather not do that...rule of thumb: if you don't know how to compile source code (or don't know what that means), you should probably not even try to...

  • courtney berry

I'm sorry but I just don't know what to ask. I have a Samsung Galaxy 2, 7.0 tablet, (GT-P3113), and have been told I need the right "Kernals" installed in order to get my paid version of Android Overclock App to work. I already have rooted the tab but I don't know what I'm looking for when it comes to 'Kernals'. There seems to be different kinds and though the link says "for the Galaxy 2, 7.0 Tab", when I go there, the downloads are all listed for phones?!
