Update 11/1/12: The Mach will come out on November 11th for $99.99:

Sprint's on a roll here lately with the 4G LTE device announcements. We already know the company is getting the powerhouse Note II, as well as its first LTE tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, and LG's newest flagship, the Optimus G.

Of course, they want to cater to the needs of all customers. We all know there's a market for QWERTY sliders, and the newest member of Sprint's smartphone family brings just that to the table. Dubbed the LG Mach, this is a solid mid ranger with a seemingly outstanding form factor:

  • 4" 800x480 display
  • 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon MSM8960 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • 5MP rear shooter, VGA front camera
  • QWERTY slide-out keyboard
  • 4.64" x 2.56" x 0.48", 5.92 ounces
  • 1.700mAh battery
  • Android 4.0

Unfortunately, there's no word of when the Mach will be available or how much it'll cost, but we'll let you know as soon as the information is available.

    I hope that's 1,700mAh, and not 1.700 as it's listed.

  • Sprint’s 3G fail

Nice phones but a crappy network. Sprint's 3g is failing throughout the country (IE speeds at dialup speeds). They have all these LTE phones but a very small market has sprints LTE. The purpose of a smart phone is to be on the net for the most part.

THIS IS LITERALLY THE SAME SPECS AS THE MOTOROLA PHOTON.
I understand this is an LG phone, but one of the reasons cited for not upgrading the Photon was a decrease in useability/functionality. This phone has the EXACT same specs, and is running ICS just fine. /rant

why do they all give qwerty phones shitty specs? qwerty are the only smartphones that are actually designed for work instead of play, they deserve at least one model that's way ahead of toys like nexus and gs3. give us 4000 mah removable battery, sd card input, unlocked bootloader, 720p 4.5 inch screen, stylus, and quad core. damn the angry birds generation.

    Sprint's Brilliant Cannot-Fail Strategy:
    1. Build out WiMax 4G Network, America's first 4G Network.

    2. Release a ton of WiMax phones. Claim other various forms of 4G aren't 4G.
    3. Ignore ubiquitous complaints about 3G network.
    4. Acquire iPhone, thereby insuring absolute destruction of network bandwidth.
    5. Abandon WiMax network because, whatever, f*ck it. You're stuck in a contract, suckas!
    6. Start losing customers to T-Mobile, Verizon.
    7. Declare that you're going to fix the 3G network! Take a really long time. No hurry. Remember, "contract, suckas!"
    8. Declare that you're going to build a NEW 4G network. Ignore customer groans.
    9. Undertake simultaneous, clumsy build-out of new 4G network and repair of ramshackle 3G network. No rush.
    10. Begin releasing new 4G phones before new 4G network build-out is complete. Acquire eyepatch, parrot.
    11. Release iPhone 5, yet another LTE Phone, thereby guaranteeing nascent 4G network bandwidth will also be obliterated.
    12. Continue releasing 4G LTE Phones. Continue build-out even slower.
    13. Frequently wonder aloud why stock prices plummet.

unfortunately some of the staff of AP didtn get the memo (looks at liam and wonders why he extended his contract on the worst data network). i would never be caught on this sh!itty network

aren't these almost the same specs as droid 4 which was released forever ago (feels like).. and, i guess the only good thing about this phone is REMOVABLE BATTERY.

Sprint Sales Associate here. The LG Mach will be here 11/11/2012 and it will be 399.99 off contract, 149.99 out the door with a new contract or upgrade and 99.99 with the mail in rebate.

This phone doesn't seem worth it with the Razr M in existence. I get that they're for different carriers, but it shows that LG could have worked a little harder. Although phones with some not so shitty specs are nice, they're also behind the moment they're released on shelves. It's just kind of depressing.
