One of the most distinct disadvantages of Google TV is how expensive some of the boxes can be. To that end, the Logitech Revue, one of the first devices to run the television-oriented platform, has served as a cheap entry-level set top box for the curious. Now, it's cheaper than ever. Normally $100, you can use a coupon code (TPF73771) to get $20 off a refurbished model up front, plus a $30 rebate to bring it down to a meager $50.

Customers have until October 27th to order the Revue in order to qualify for the rebate. After purchase, you have 30 days to put the rebate in the mail. Be sure to do so, of course, as this rebate is more than half of the discount on this particular deal. Also, keep in mind that the Revue has been end-of-lifed so don't get your hopes up about any future upgrades improving the experience.

Well worth it IMHO. I've bought one at $99 a year or 2 ago. No way in hell would I pay more for GTV though, don't care how new it is, anymore than $100 and you've shot yourself in the foot.

Pretty decent deal for a cheap Google TV. At that price, it's hard to complain that it's a little laggy and slow. With GTVBox https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.gtvbox.videoplayer it actually becomes a good streaming device for local network media (love that little app).

Slightly OT, but your post made me think about it.... Any idea why there isn't a GTV unit in the Devices section of the Play Store? There's a Chromebook (that doesn't even run Android) but no Google TV (which does)...

      • http://cashd00d.co.cc/ WHAT?

        It's coming...

  • Google_is_the_Higgs_Boson

No doubt the price is good, but you would be better off with first gen Sony blu-ray GoogleTV...

I've been seriously considering this since the new Sony gtv doesn't come with bluray. Does anyone know how just the gtv portion compares with the newer version?

      • Google_is_the_Higgs_Boson

I got the Sony blu-Ray GTV... I've only used the blu-Ray a couple times... I mostly use Plex for GoogleTV too watch things I want too watch...

The Revue is terrible, especially if you look into what it does. The firmware update in February actually broke the browser. Within a month or two it'll constantly crash on Flash webpages. And I can't even update or install apps anymore. Even after complete wipes.

I have 2 Revues, and my experience is definitely not like yours. Perhaps you have a dud unit - I remember reading of many units being borked by the update.

    Still wouldn't buy one.

  • Rich

Has anyone got the Play Store update yet, still waiting, or will the Logitech Revue never get it?

  • FrillArtist

Rebates for an end of life product. Lol. What a joke.

  • Chuckroid

I'll give you my Revue. if you live in East Texas or wanna pay shipping...

    • http://www.facebook.com/VGLosers Doug Turner

      How much is shipping? ;)

      • Chuckroid

        Unknown...

I'd pay $10-20 in shipping for it...

It really isn't -THAT- bad. All set top boxes suck to some degree.

All sold out now... But listening to some of the other reviews here, I am glad I didn't get one...
