The worst kept secret in the history of Nexus devices just keeps on giving, and this time it looks like we have unofficial confirmation that LG's new device will indeed be called "Nexus 4".

Employees from LG and Google have both uploaded photos to Google+ using the unreleased device, and the EXIF information for the shots both call the camera that has been used 'Nexus 4'.

Both of the photos were taken on Saturday, and uploaded to the social network over the weekend. Jason Parks, a Google employee, still has them on his profile, although due to the sensitive nature of the shots, we've chosen not to publish them. His South Korean counterpart, Bae Sang-Hoon, has since removed the posts.

Following a leak from Carphone Warehouse's inventory last week, also naming the device Nexus 4, this all but confirms what the device will be called when it is eventually released.

I'm still kind of hoping for a few Nexus phones...

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

We're not convinced that's real just yet.

        • Greyhame

No persistent search bar, Play Store icon without a label.. gotta be a fake.

          • Chris Lambert

            Old Browser, not Chrome, too.

          • http://www.facebook.com/Shinakuma George Millhouse

actually that has nothing to do with it

      • http://www.facebook.com/Shinakuma George Millhouse

you fall for fakes far too fast

Samsung is also releasing an upgarde to the Galaxy Nexus. Rumors are calling it the Galaxy Nexus II.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Shinakuma George Millhouse

yeah so im guessing once again we are screwed with the camera for a Nexus

  • http://twitter.com/Parad1s3 Paradise

LG Nexus 4 sounds weird but we'll see Eric eating shoe...

I am bit skeptical about LG..will it be able to deliver high quality phone?

    • jjrudey

      I'm certainly not getting it.

  • Chris Hutchinson

yeah any supposed photos i've seen so far are disappointing. I think ill just wait for a 32gb N7 and that way ill not have to deal with a camera.

  • Michael Smith

Is it just me, or do you feel like LG is trying to ramp up some PR for their Nexus device? We all know that their phones haven't done very well on the market. I think I'll stick with my Galaxy Nexus if this is the only Nexus device on the market. Maybe I can spend my money on that Samsung Nexus tab. ;)

    • Kenny O

At this point I think you are right. I doubt a Googler would have these pictures up on Google+ unless it was clear they were "allowed" to be.

    "...sensitive nature of the shots..."?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

It's the guy's kid, asleep. We didn't want to repost a photo of something that's relatively private.

      • derekross

        Good call.

      • http://www.facebook.com/ShitizGarg Shitiz Garg

I thought it meant something else

      • TweetrGuy

Yet instead of saying something like Name Withheld, or John Doe you chose to publish his name so all people have to due is search for him and see them.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

It's up to him to remove the photo when and if he wants to - if he's fine with people seeing it, then so be it.

          • TweetrGuy

Then why even bother saying they're sensitive?

          • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

To explain why we didn't embed the 2nd picture but just the exif info from it. Is this really that big a deal that we need to have a whole discussion about it?

          • TweetrGuy

You claimed it was "sensitive" and then gave his name and linked to it. While you paraded the gmail beta and claimed it was sensitive and couldn't share it. It seems you guys have two meanings for the word, how are we supposed to know which you mean at any given time?

          • http://www.facebook.com/Shinakuma George Millhouse

            dude seriously grow up

  • Brandon

Looking forward to the shoe eating!

    • Freak4Dell

Yeah, the podcast on November 1st should be quite entertaining.

We should deep fry it with the Turducken

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Oh, this is going to be good.

  • JonJJon

Do you think driver optimisations and newer software would bring the quality of these photos up to an acceptable quality? I'm still a little underwhelmed by the quality :- still probably getting this phone though in 16GB or 32GB flavour

    • http://twitter.com/MrYuzhai *Certified_geek™

a little underwhelmed? this shits like telling a 4 year old santa clause isn't real!

      • JonJJon

Well it is a phone, and will always look "shit" next to my bridge camera for example, and being stuck with a 5MP HTC Desire S for the last two years this is still an upgrade from that, I was just hoping for something that at least matched the quality of my mates SGS2 camera which I've always thought was a nice snapper for a phone :)

  • Kenny O

At this point it would seem that the only surprise left is the pricing......

  • Kenny O

I know it's highly doubtful, but it would be really cool if all these Nexus 4 leaks were completely on purpose to distract everyone and keep other Nexus devices under wraps and then they drop multiple Nexus phones at the same time. You know, the old Kansas City Shuffle.......

    • http://www.toysdiva.com Toys Samurai

I surely hope so. But in these days, everything get leaked. It is hard to believe that if other Nexus phones exists, we still haven't heard anything about them now.

      • Kenny O

Yep, it's very hard to keep anything a secret anymore.

    • http://www.facebook.com/benjamin.pavel Benjamin Pavel

I still believe there will be Xperia Nexus and Galaxy Nexus 2 as that picture indicated.
And as you said yes i think they are doing this so they distract us from other nexus devices i mean cmon we almost have a press shots of Optimus Nexus and almost full review of it and that NEVER happened with mobile devices before.

  • Jay

LG makes horrible phones. They screwed up the G2 making the G2x. And screwed up the Mytouch line with theyre cheap version. And now the Nexus... Sorry, being as how all 3 of my previous LG phones were riddled with problems, I will pass and stick to the Galaxy S Series.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Shinakuma George Millhouse

i have no faith in LG what so ever. If this is the only Nexus ill wait till next year for the next one besides this Nexus isnt even coming with a new OS its an updated version of JB. Kinda surprised me they would release a new Nexus without a new version of the OS

  • http://twitter.com/MrYuzhai *Certified_geek™

bloody hell.. what a horrendous let down.. the geek in me still wants to stick to nexus.. but honestly yo.. very very disappointed.. praying that these devices out there are like old prototypes and google can somehow wow us..

    • http://www.facebook.com/Shinakuma George Millhouse

  • Brian Menius

That looks like an AT&T banner on the wall, wherever that photo was taken. AT&T call center?

  • John O’Connor

    No aperture?

  • Greyhame

Do these photo uploads have a good track record with nailing the names of upcoming phones? It's just that the name "Nexus 4" really seems to put a kaibash on the multiple nexus rumors.

  • Nick D

Wait... sensitive nature of the shots? Did a Google employee leak nekkid pictures of himself, or are you saying that Google is working on nuclear secrets?
