I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? LG? Making an interesting video? Pshaw, I say! Before you dismiss it, though, let me ask you something. Have you ever seen a phone built out of magic and diamonds?! No? Then I've got something new to show you. In this four-minute promo video for the LG Optimus G, we see a man who is, apparently, a sparkle bender, forge a block of pure obsidian, then literally carve the phone out of this block with telekinesis. And that is just the beginning.

The video also demonstrates other key features of the Optimus G. Like state-of-the-art bow and arrow-powered processors that perform tasks by blowing up giant black balls filled with colored lights. Or shutters that take pictures of The Flash. And who could forget giant floating screens that you control with elaborate dances? Oh and cross-tasking.

What.

Sure, this isn't a fake line of people waiting for a competitor's product. Nothing could be as awesome as watching folks stand around talking about stuff. But seeing a guy's muscles make Transformers sounds? That's a close second.

My favorite part is where 1 crazy-looking mofo turns into 4 crazy-looking mofos and starts shooting arrows quad-core-nam style.

This whole video is like watching a real-life anime mixed with Street Fighter and The Matrix. Which is to say, I didn't stop watching till the end.

I didn't stop watching until my brain melted.

So I missed the last minute and a half.

That was... interesting. For some reason, unknown to me, I was captivated and couldn't stop; yet I was conscious enough to know I was wasting 4 minutes of my life watching what turned out to be insane, but not in a bad way.

Matrix is right: that was the Staging Area! The Optimus G is made by Neo.

Pretty shameless rip off there with the third segment.

No joke, as you posted this comment, we were discussing in the AP chat about how LG seems to randomly lift pieces of its custom UI from a variety of sources and just piece stuff together.

Apparently they use the same philosophy for their ads.

    I want one O.o...

  • DROID DOES

Still looks like a cheap phone, like a cheap version of the Galaxy S II

I went from an SGS2 to an LG phone, and I would say that build quality is comparable.

  • Knlegend1

And Verizon doesnt' want this? Smdh

  • Kory Rice

can we just agree that four minutes of my life was wasted, whether i watched it or not? (i did, by the way)

Gentlemen! By the powers of Sparkle Motion and Wubstep, I give you:

wub Wub WUb WUB... an LG phone!

  • Matthew Fry

Um.... so... let's talk about the uh... cross tasking.

Is it just me or is that completely worthless? I'm trying to think of a situation where having a transparent version of anything on top of anything is worthwhile.

You know, other than those frequent times where I'm watching a video and want it to continue playing while I draft a text message.

Everything I can think of would be more intuitive either pausing the screen and interacting with a pop up, or pulling the notification bar down and interacting with it, then sliding it back up.

I'll wait until I can try for myself, but if it can actually do half the crap they advertise, I might get it.

@video: you are easy to impress, aren't you?

  • Bjarne Rasmussen

It doesn't get any gayer than that!

Apple filed suit because they believe they own the patent on making things out of diamonds and LG stole their trade secret manufacturing proccess.
