If you're a Dexter fiend, you've undoubtedly been waiting for a way to get your fix on the go with up-to-date episodes, and now Showtime is giving you one, with Showtime Anytime. Similar to HBO and Cinemax's GO apps, Anytime allows you to watch any Showtime original series on your phone or tablet (Nexus 7 not supported, unfortunately), provided you're a current Verizon FiOS or AT&T U-Verse cable subscriber with a Showtime subscription. Now, that list of providers is qualified with the language of currently participating, so more cable and satellite options may be added in the future.

With Anytime, you can set up a personalized play list, and your progress in episodes will sync across all your Anytime-enabled devices. Aside from that, though, this is

The app is currently getting pummeled in the ratings for its short list of supported TV providers, as well as the fact that you have to log in every time you run it (that admittedly makes zero sense). But hey, it lets you watch Dexter. On your phone. So that's cool.

It's a shame to see a 2-star average in a decent app just because of limited login options, but I understand people's frustration. I think MAX GO is still incompatible with Xfinity/Comcast to this day, that gets infuriating fast.

Unfortunately reviews are a quick outlet for petty anger and lack of immediate satisfaction. However, when I recently tried MAX GO the app was a mess, so I think they have more problems than limited login options.

I started to get excited because I do have Uverse, but it was totally deflated because the Galaxy Tab 2 isn't supported. Hopefully that changes soon.

    Gee, where do I start?
First: Why do I need a cable subscription? If I had cable I would be able to get this on my phone already!!! Why can I not just pay per show?

Second: Why is the Nexus 7 not supported? (and apparently the Galaxy Tab is also not supported)...
What is the point of having the most up-to-date software if the app makers are not going to support it. Is this the fault of the Nexus 7 or the fault of Showtime?

Is this even a complete app?

... Really? You need a subscription because the way cable TV works... It's not a charity. If you want to pay per episode, search the Play Store.

Would be great if they get this running for Google TV

  • John McGing

Well, Play store says my Nexus 7 is not compatible, guessing because it's rooted.

Contrary to what David said, this app works on the Nexus 7. I have VZ Fios.

    • SoniaMartins

No it does not. Unless you sideloaded this app is not available for dl on the Nexus 7.

I'm sorry but when then app was first released on the Play Store The Nexus 7was supported. Showtime pulled the app (for N7) the next day.
