Sure, the Galaxy S III is the first major flagship device to get Jelly Bean outside the Nexus line. That's not fast enough for you, though, is it? Of course not! We can do better! Or, more accurately, XDA can do better. In fact, a TouchWiz Jelly Bean ROM has found its way to the development forum giant's threads already!

touchwiz2 touchwiz1 touchwiz3

The build is still unofficial and obviously there are inherent risks to flashing it. Some users are reporting trouble with MMS, and as usual, root is not guaranteed to remain intact. Be sure to read through the thread before doing anything fancy with your phone. If you're feeling adventurous, though, head to the source link to find your downloads.

    Did samsung not murder gnow?

    • fixxmyhead

no they kept both s voice and google now. idk i guess for options

it will be interesting to see if the two play well together

Google Now is a lot more than voice search. It'd be ridiculous if they killed the cards system.

Why would anyone want to keep TouchWiz though?

It's really not bad on the GS3. I did use a custom launcher from day 1 though. That said, it seems like all of the AOSP roms so far have been a little buggy.

      • wolfkabal

I haven't used the latest version. I only recall the original on GSI was horrible. I simply hated the layout of everything - it was way too "apple" like (go figure with the recent lawsuits).

    • fixxmyhead

cuz it has more useful features than boring stock. it has gotten much ,much better than the vibrant days. i too hated the old touchwiz . the new one is slick

      • lordmerovingian

You certainly haven't tried Team Baked's "Blackbean ROM 5", a stock Jelly Bean ROM, no TWiz. Oh so good.

        Look into it.

      • wolfkabal

Maybe I'm boring then, but I can't think of anything I'd actually need over the stock JB launcher.

        • fixxmyhead

apex or nova is the stock jb launcher but with customizations. if u really prefer the stock one then u must be old school cuz stock launcher is just boring

          • wolfkabal

I have Apex and Nova on my tablet (HC) as HC home does indeed suck. But again, aside from being able to customize things back to the way things are on stock ICS/JB - I simply don't need use any of the extra whistles.

          • wolfkabal

Actually I did realize that I suppose I'm not actually using stock - as it's CM10. Still haven't really customized it any though.

          • fixxmyhead

yea the trebuchet laucher barely has any customization. its just a step above the stock launcher but i guess to each there own right

Puke. It's hideous. I guess that if I do get the NoteII, I'm going to have to flash a custom rom.
