Poweramp, the popular music player app, has been updated to provide expandable notifications for users running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), as well as a few other improvements.

This latest update allows you to easily control tracks from your system notifications, whilst viewing information about the track currently playing. Also, the notification controls no longer disappear when you pause a track, so you don't have to dive back into the app to continue listening. In addition to this, support for FLV files has been added, and there is improved WAV and WMA support, too.

What's in this version:

- new "rich" notification support for Jelly Beans (Android 4.1)
- improved .wav and .wma support
- audio in .flv
- Music Folders selection can be 10 levels deep now
- fixed missing last song in iso.wv
- few other improvements and bug fixes

The update is live on the Play store right now, so if you own the app you can grab the latest version immediately.

whats your though about N7 Music Player

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Way too messy and challenged in the UX department.

        • Abhisshek Das

i found they looks very KOOL in thumbnail view but does not like the text/ tag cloud type interface

Not to derail from the topic, but what app are you using for the notification bar toggles? Looks very clean.

    • Anonymous

Pretty sure those are the built in toggles for CM10

Cool, thanks! It looks similar to Widgetsoid, but cleaner.

    • Jonathan Isenberg

Definitely CM10, I recognize that part anywhere.

Thanks man, It's been a while since I've used CyanogenMod. I like how clean the toggles look.

      • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

That is correct. CM 10 nightly on the EVO LTE.

Nitrous Oxide! Good taste in music. :)

    • cornandbeans

Haha! I just caught that. I love Anjunabeats too.

      Thank you, thank you.

      • Abhisshek Das

indeed very good Music taste Artem :) btw are you in Last.fm, can i add you in their :)

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

I am, but I stopped using it as it started popping up login windows all the time, even when I was logged in, so I killed it (on Windows at least). Ended up asking myself whether there's any value in Last.FM for me and found 0.

I'm glad they're fixing it so that pausing the track doesn't make the controls disappear from the notification tray. That was always one of my pet peeves.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Yup, me too. And you can truly dismiss them by clicking the new X button.

    2 things..
1.) wow you get to sleep until 7:30?
2.) has anyone noticed when playing a song & phone is off, it'll sometimes stutter when you press the power button to wake for lockscreen? (galaxynexus toro, CM10)

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      1) that was my screenshot - are you surprised that I have to get up too early or too late? The Tasker rule is actually just for the ringer. It's not an alarm.
      2) nope

      • John

ah, i just assumed it was around when you woke up .... jealous. =P

Still waiting for integration with Google Music. Poweramp is far better, but my music is on the cloud...

    • http://twitter.com/mumarov Brzgw

Same here. I am all on Google Music. But PowerAmp is amazing. I love the EQ. I guess we have to wait for Google to release the API

  • Abhisshek Das

I still prefer N7 Music Player . It is much better than PowerAmp IMHO

  • Jon Garrett

Power Amp is nice but the UI is ugly as hell. I use Real Player now which is totally awesome.

  • xmRipper

I just want a discount for Poweramp :/ It is too expensive.
