Until Google Takes away their ability to use my camera without my knowledge I will not be updating the soon in fact I'd rather remove it all together in protest. No one seems to care about that fact though, just blindly update apps, I don't auto update any app

Oh lord, cue the paranoia.... smh

time to up my holdings in android branded tinfoil hats

Honestly, your phone runs Google. If they wanted to take pictures without your knowledge, they would have put it somewhere hidden, not in plain sight in a youtube app.

Also, It's not without your consent... the camera only works when it's showing you. It's probably to upload videos.

      • GazaIan

It actually IS for video uploads, gallery and camera are now a connected app so most, if not all the time, this permission is needed for apps that want to upload videos.

    • soylent

It helps a lot to check what these permissions do and why they are in. You can make a video right through the YT app and instantly upload it there. Go iPoop where you never see any notice what is collected or possible to use within an app. Paranoia much...

    • GazaIan

Wow, maybe if you actually KNEW what that permission was for.. -_-

      • Alan

Exactly, it amazes me that that people don't know or even bother to read up why an app requires certain permissions.

    • Chris

I don't auto update eirther but its safe, its from google, not a 3rd party shady developer. the camera thing is for uploads as you can flim video from the app and upload it directly.

  • IncCo

I wish they would integrate messages better in their app.. the html5 version has this sorted out.

  • Djones

Looks like they finally let you set your channels feed to uploads only!

    • http://twitter.com/IamPeePay Tomáš Petrík

      Yep, great feature.

  • skitchbeatz

they killed the tabs under the video.. can't say i like that

    • geo123

Exactly.. They really messed it up

    • Aman Yajurvedi

Why, oh god why did they do this? Now you got to scroll scroll scroll. I think this is going to be like Google+. They bring a *new* update and then a new new update

  • http://www.buttie.pl/ buttie

Extra bonus is commercials before videos... (At lease in Poland, there weren't any before).

    • fixxmyhead

i thinks its everywhere cuz im getting them here in USA. ive noticed that 99% of videos that i watch now have commercials

  • chrisephoto

    New icon as well

  • coversnails

At last!! Uploads only option for the channel feed. Shame there is still no pre-fetching option for the Nexus 7 though.

  • GazaIan

No more tabs? Seriously? That's upsetting.

    • John O’Connor

It brings the app in line with the ui a lot of other standard apps. there is something to be said for consistency.

now if only the entire OS would have better landscape support (instant orientation transition) such as we see in the youtube app

      • coversnails

Not sure doing this brings the app into line with other stock apps, the YouTube app features in the Android developer UI guidelines as a good example of where and how to use tabs, going against their own guidelines surely causes more inconsistency.

Personally think the tabs were better, more organized and you didn't have to keep clicking 'more' just scroll to the bottom and it would auto update.

      • Chris

Not even close. itr doesnt even look like "holo" anymore

  • derga

Why did they switch the bottom from horizontal to vertical? I thought they want us to use that gesture. It was cleaner as well.. now its like: Where is the bottom.. where is the bottom..

  • jpelgrom

Why are the handy tabs on the video page gone? :-(
Also, I wish there was an option to hide recommendations in my feed.

  • Chris

I too miss the tabs under the video...
