It's been a while since we've seen a new set of those little Android figurines that everyone loves. After a long wait, however, Series 3 will be available at 8AM PT today. This collection, of course, brings all new faces to our beloved mascot, and the Dead Zebra guys have really gone above and beyond this go around, as some of the designs are incredibly intricate. Here's a quick look at what you'll get out of Series 3:

1 2 3 4

5 6 7 12

8 9 11 10

All of these are awesome, but I think the Nexus is my favorite.

Update: After only 10 minutes, they're already sold out! They should have some more in stock fairly soon, so keep checking the DZ store.

As always, these guys are going to sell out double-quick, so you'll need to get your order in ASAP. It will work just like previous releases: you'll be limited in the number you can order, but a box set of 16 will also be available.

They go on sale in less than half an hour, so if you plan on ordering, you should probably head over to DZ's shop and get your account all set up (if you haven't already).

Any idea if this will also be sold on their UK store?

A small correction to the article: buying a case will NOT get you a complete series 3 set. The cases are comprised of 16 "blind boxes" and some of the designs have a ratio of 2 per case. The chase figures (not pictured) are 1/32 or 1/?? ratio.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Cameron Summerson

Historically, the case of 16 had "at least 12 different designs" in it, which would suggest that it contains a full series.

      • jm9843

Yes, but there's more than 12 unique designs in series 3. As there was in series 2 as well.

  • DavidKeith

    I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Phyxius Debello

you know i love these figurines but i can't justify paying over 125$ just for android figurines.. they're very cool, but i would prefer to spend that money elsewhere.. to bad it is so expensive as i am sure the cost of creating them is not that much.

  • http://www.androidworld.it/ cisO.o

    Bought one case! :)

    • DavidKeith

:( I bought 5, and an Android Mouse Pad! lol

  • moelsen8

ugh, i had my account set up and ready to give them my money for a bunch of the nexus ones. i didn't know you could *only* buy blind boxes (or a set for $125.. which really isn't the complete set anyway).. F that. i really like some of their designs, but they don't want my money.

    • jm9843

      That's part of the fun!

      • moelsen8

it's pretty expensive fun though :(

        • jm9843

Tell me about it! You're better off not getting started with these. (only half kidding).

        • DavidKeith

          That's gambling for ya!

It's BS that you can only buy "randomized" figures. I was going to get the Nexus figure and the clear/mini figure, but I can't justify buying 2 randoms and getting neither. F that indeed. What a waste.

    • moelsen8

i hear that man. i would've easily bought 2 or 3 nexus ones to show off my nerdom at work and home. but i'm not buying random ones or a set that isn't really the entire set anyway. it's probably pretty neat doing it this way if you have a few hundred laying around collecting dust and want to try to collect them all.

      • https://twitter.com/#!/MMcCraryNJ Michael McCrary

At least someone agrees! haha. Yeah, I'm a big Nexus guy, so I have a Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7, and all I wanted was the Nexus figure and the clear figure to stick some jellybeans in, just as a fun little thing. The other figures mean absolutely nothing to me, and some of them don't even make much sense to me (a "Cryon" spray paint one? Really?).

I had my account all setup and ready to give them my money, but it's a wash for me personally.

        • DavidKeith

wait 1 week then go on Amazon. People open the blind boxes and sell them on Amazon for only a few bucks more.

    • ElfirBFG

It's known as blind-box, it's incredibly common in the world of toy collecting, especially in regard to minis. If you want specific minis, you have to wait until they hit eBay and pay a slight markup.

Also, they aren't supposed to 'mean something' to you, they are an artist series, meaning that people design them FOR the company in THEIR style. Again, incredibly common in the world of toys. Medicom, Toy2R, kidrobot, SecretBase, they ALL do it, again it is incredibly popular with minis.

  • Avohkah Tamer

I really honestly only like two, -maybe- three of these designs. I'm not one for the artsy or bizarre variants, really.

If I could actually pick which specific figures I'm getting, I'd place an order, but it doesn't look like they'll be getting any of my money today.

  • lensgrabber

yeah I only want three or four of them and am not doing it blind. I'll wait for ebay and pay a little extra to know what I am getting. That clear and nexus ones are on my list for sure.

  • Evan Petzoldt

So in other words, buying a case doesn't even guarantee that you will get a particular design. No thanks.

Hey, if you guys are going to spend this much on Android figurines, consider getting one that moves: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/realityrobotics/be-the-robot-bero-bluetooth-controlled-open-source

They sold out in less than 12min and I had 9 in my cart to buy but was waiting to get a case but I couldn't find the case on the site so now I didn't get any. >:(

    • jm9843

Andrew Bell just added some more to the store. Be quick!

  • Tyler Chappell

WTF they were made available again and I missed it since it said they were sold out. F*ck that.

    • jm9843

Another release tonight at 11pm EDT.

      • Tyler Chappell

I know, but 3 damn times they showed up as being sold out AND THEN suddenly back in stock. 3 damn times I couldnt buy them because I was in a 10:30am class with an exam in which I finished before 11am and then was trying to order it from my tablet but it was taking too long.

    got my case!

  • k2hsharpe

blind purchasing that only sycophants think acceptable?
(is this cos they suspect there are some dud designs here that few will want?)
and fake 'Sold Outs' to build drama?
Google - are you listening? Cos if this shit is true, then it's the sort of thing that android fans dislike about apple. And your brand is taking a hit here!
and Android Police, how about acting for the benefit of the community like law enforcement should - say some thing about the appropriateness of such behaviors, rather than saying nothing and by default acting for the benefit of a bunch of too smart by half fucks?

    -massive headshake -

    • Bleets

"blind purchasing that only sycophants think acceptable?"
nice and insulting. Like huge amounts of collectables available in shops, be it stickers, trading cards etc where you buy blind, the only people who buy these would be sycophants? Thanks for that.

"and fake 'Sold Outs' to build drama?"
Fake? I'm kind of looking at that froma different angle...
What's better, if there's a limited collectors items going on sale that a lot of people would want, would you...
      a) stick your entire production run online for sale in 1 hit where things would sell out pretty quickly
      or
      b) sell batches of stock at different times of the day to give more people a chance to buy them who might not be available for the first/second time etc?
I'm pretty sure i know which one i'd go for, and how terrible of them to want to give more people a chance to buy their product, such terrible practise.

"and Android Police, how about acting for the benefit of the community
like law enforcement should - say some thing about the appropriateness
of such behaviors, rather than saying nothing and by default acting for
the benefit of a bunch of too smart by half fucks?"

What a ridiculous comment to make. Somebody has taken the time to post an article to inform people when they're going on sale (although he could have listed more time zones since i have no idea what "PT" is, but isnt really hard to look up etc) and the lack of appretiation shown is rather quite pathetic. He even said in the article that they sell out quickly etc etc.

Grow up and stop ranting about issues that only exist in your head.

      • Patrick Ganion

They are still readily available in a number of locations so just because they're sold out at Deadzebra doesn't mean they're completely gone. here's one for example http://www.myplasticheart.com/c/ANDROID/Android.html No need to complain over toys :)
