Good news for you independent bloggers out there! WordPress just issued a small update to its mobile app. The biggest change is that you can now add featured images to a post. Featured images, of course, are treated differently in WordPress entries than in-line images and are often used as thumbnails, so it's been a bit of a problem that the app hasn't made it easy to add them until now.

Here's the full changelog:

What's new in version 2.2:
- Featured image support
- New stats view
- Performance and reliability improvements

Unfortunately, WordPress doesn't get updated quite as much as one would like. The team developing the mobile app inside WordPress HQ isn't very big, but we'll take what we can get when we can. So, what do you think? Are you any more likely to use it now?

Eric, I host a WP foodblog. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to take a picture with my phone then upload it right to my blog. Help pls if you can. Thx so much!

I wish the app functioned more like Dropbox or Google Drive, something that would allow me to access my content offline, or quickly move throughout journal entries. It's good that the update allows folks to utilize content like online, but it's still just fighting to be the best, rather than showing others how it's done. Oh well, I suppose, they're the best for the job.
