Games on Android continue to get bigger and more elaborate. One of the top developers leading the way in less-than-casual gaming on the mobile platform is Idea Factory (together with Hyperbox Studio). Previously, the company released Spectral Souls, a 1GB RPG for $15 that promised hundreds of hours of gameplay (as any decent RPG would). Today, the similarly priced, and even larger 1.2GB sequel lands on the Play Store: Blazing Souls Accelate.

The game packs everything you'd expect in a high-end RPG. Impressive graphics and animations, a free-roaming world, item upgrades, modifications, and crafting, and even a Pokémon system the ability to capture monsters and have them fight for you. As a bonus, it's optimized for the Xperia Play and has support for key mapping, in case you'd like to use your keyboard instead. Everyone else will be using touchscreen controls.

Blazing Souls is clearly not for the casual gamer. At $15, it's attempting to go head-to-head with the likes of Final Fantasy III. This is a bid for pro-level territory here. Plus, this is a sequel, which implies that the previous version did well enough to continue the business model. The upwards trend for high-profile Android development is an encouraging one.

Just make sure you're on WiFi when you download this one.

All I want from a turn-based RPG is:

    Gesture-based controls (screw on-screen buttons)
    auto-save
    really fast starup.

Is that too much to ask?

Build it and watch people buy it.

yeah people only do cheap ports of whatever they build on other platforms. it's kinda annoying, this is the one kind of game that would WORK on touch screens.

Haha. Been a while since I saw Jap games with Yngwie Malmsteen-esque 80's shredder guitar soundtracks. Brings back all the fuzzy Battle Arena Toshinden vibes.

Warning for those who buy this, there are some serious bugs atm (can't save, the 1.2gb expansion triggers every time you launch the app).

The dev's have been made aware, but its a bummer :(

Hello. Yes, there is an issue concerning the validation of the data downloaded via Google servers and we are currently working on a fix that is going to be released by today.
