Last night, 73v1n, the author of the last few CyanogenMod boot animations, posted an updated and completely revamped version designed for CyanogenMod 10. It's very likely going to become the official animation of the ROM in the future, but if you want some of this goodness on your device stat (especially if you're running CM 7 or 9, as the version number doesn't appear in the newest animation), you don't have to wait for CM10 at all - 73v1n has now uploaded it for everyone to enjoy.

There are 6 landscape and 7 portrait sizes, so you'll be able to find a good match for even the quirkiest of devices. Great job, 73v1n!

Enjoy, folks.

The CM9 bootanimation kicked ass and was clean enough.

    Cid was a bummer thou.

  • Alm0s

This is a hundred times better than the CM9 animation. Cid sucks, the background animation was overdone, it wasn't tasteful at all. This however, looks amazing. Looking forward to seeing it on my phone. :)

Doesn't work on g nexus. Flashing zip just aborts

      It's not a flashable zip.

So for my Droid Incredible (480X800), I'd want to select Vertical > 800, right? Just want to make sure!

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

      Pretty sure that's right.

Is there a file for ldpi devices?

  • tzeench

Vertical 800 works great on my CM7 Evo 4g...

  • akshat01

What would you recommend for the XT910? Also Do i necessarily need to be on CyanogenMod ROm ?

    • Marcos Amano

I'm not sure, but I think you have to use Vertical>540 and you can use with other ROM.

So its being reported on Rootz that no one (including myself) is able to install this bootanimation on their GNex. Specifically trying the 720 vertical, using Root Explorer, set in r/w, replacing the exiting bootanimation in /system/media, and changing permissions to rw-r-r, but we've all ended up with completely black screens after the rom has booted (have to reflash rom to fix afterwards). No solution yet that I know of to make it work...

Try putting the Bootanimation in /data/local. That works for some devices.

Ain't working on mine. Applying the fix now.

  • derekross

For those of you on 720 resolution devices getting a black screen or a non booting device, here's the fix. The vertical 720 version (Galaxy Nexus) was a compressed zip file. Here is a working uncompressed zip: http://www.mediafire.com/?a3ml6079uw9w8i9

damn i had to flash my phone again....@Artem Russakovskii from next time please test it on your phone before posting mate...thanks

What do you mean you had to flash your phone? A boot animation shouldn't be able to prevent you from booting. In case it does, it should be possible to remove the bad file from recovery.

And this is exactly why you should always make a nandroid before you do anything system-wise in your phone.
