Oh, Sprint EVO 3D owners. It's been a long and winding road, but your day is finally here: The Now Network is now rolling out ICS OTA-style to your device. The update brings Android 4.0 and all the lovely upgrades that go along with it:

  • Upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0)
  • Home screen folders
  • Launch Bar for commonly used apps
  • Improved Android Browser
  • Improved Camera Experience
  • Face Unlock
  • Resizable widgets
  • Add/Remove Panels

You should be able to pull the update manually now by heading into Settings > System Updates > HTC software update > Check now. Otherwise, you can wait until August 7th when notifications will be sent out to all devices. Right.

My dad gave me his 3D to troubleshoot. Knowing about the early August rollout, I figured id give it a shot and launch the HTC Software Update option. And Bam! ICS!! lol.

He will definitely be happy about it!

So does holding down the Home button bring up the ICS Recent Apps panel now?

    • Yamadog27

my phone is flashed to cricket, will it still get the ota?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Cameron Summerson

No. The OTA is being pushed by Sprint, so it will only go to Sprint phones.

    • Brandon Rose

Did you flash a custom rom? the ICS update is only for Sprint. This means that is only going to work with a device on Sprints Network. Good news is the kernel for ICS on the EVO 3d will be released to developers on the htc dev website. This means developers can go and create custom roms. Yes ICS Roms for cricket too.

Glad to see Sprint do right by the Evo family of devices on sprint. I was worried a little when I saw the EVO 3D on Virgin mobile with ICS and the EVO DESIGN 4G on boost with ICS. Glad sprint kept it's promise...

  • Andrew

my push notifications for facebook is now not working. Is this happening to you guys?

  • Simon Belmont

Heh. Finally, and one day early.

Glad to see all of your non-rooted Sprint HTC EVO 3D users are getting ICS love now. It was a long time coming.

  • Ramsey

My camera, clock and screen lock did not update. I do not have the panoramic view and it still hesitates before taking a pic. Any one else experience this?

    • Dan-o

Same here. No panoramic and still hesitates.
