The Acer Iconia A700 may offer mediocre performance when compared to the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700), but it's also normally $50 cheaper than the TF700 - to those on a budget, that may be a worthy sacrifice. Perhaps doubly so now that it's on sale for just $430 on Amazon (compared to $500 for the TF700) - certainly an impressively low price for a 10" 1920x1200 tablet powered by a Tegra 3 CPU.

A reminder of the specs:

  • Display: 10.1" 1920x1200 TFT HD display
  • CPU: 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor
  • RAM: 1GB DDR2
  • Storage: 32GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • Cameras: 5MP rear shooter, front-facing camera
  • Ports: microHDMI, microSD, microUSB
  • Battery: 9800mAh
  • OS: Android 4.0.3
  • Dimensions and weight: 6.9" x 10.2" x 0.4", 1.47lbs.
  • Color Options: Black or Silver

If you're looking for a 10" tablet in the $400 price range, it's certainly worth taking a hard look at the A700.

What part of the name "TechGuy21" gave you the impression this is a girl?

          • Himmat Singh

It's a girl photo though. It could go either way, frankly.

I wonder how the Nexus 7 will affect the sales of other Android tablet in this month -- I am afraid that Google is sucking all the oxygen out from the Android tablet market right now. For one, it's not a secret that the Android tablet market is pretty small. Now, the Nexus 7 is out, while it's extremely powerful, it also sets a price model that only Google can afford. Google can sell the tablet at cost, but no other Android OEMs can because no matter how many tablets they sell, they are not going to make a dime from subsequent Play Store sales.

No one should buy this tablet. Get the A510 instead, seriously. Both have the exact same processor, but because the A700 has to push through 4x as many pixels, performance greatly suffers.

This tablet has gotten pretty rotten reviews while the TF700 has had quite the opposite.

Why is it that none of the tablets out there have more than 1GB of RAM? It may go a long way to solving ANR's and responsiveness if they would up the ante. Hell, even my SGS3 has 2GB's of RAM and will be even smoother once I get some JB Buttery goodness
