Earlier this week, Korean publication Digital Daily spread a few rumors of an upcoming Samsung event said to be happening in August where the company may unveil the Galaxy Note 2.

Guess what? We just got a save the date for a Samsung event on August 15th where Samsung will be "unveiling of the newest GALAXY device." It could be the Galaxy Note 2 - or perhaps the U.S. announcement of the Galaxy Note 10.1. It's anyone's guess right now, but we'll keep you posted as more information arises.

Note 2 please. Or Note 10.1.

    Or BOTH.

The invitation says "please join Samsung Electronics America for a major announcement..."

I feel very little chance for next Note… The Note (original non-US version) is not yet 1 yr old. The US version is even less.

What they will show is a US-centric device. Note is an international device for Samsung. As per recent trend, Note or any major release will be in Europe, not US.
This device would definitely be something which is meant for any/some US carriers. Note (2) doesn’t match that description.

Considering that the app contest for Note will run till Oct, I see a slim chance for them to unveil the next Note before that:

They would definitely want to show how apps can make use of S-Pen.

Whatever it is, it would be so much better without TouchWiz or whatever it is they throw on top of Android nowadays!

Gnote 2 with A15 quad please har har! And i wouldn't mind that built in projector from your other phone either. As a parent I think that would be incredibly handy with my toddler at times.

Perhaps if I order whatever this will be, I could get it before my Nexus7.

Please let it be the Galaxy Note 10.1, and please let it be a revamped revamped version featuring a higher resolution (and perhaps another gig of ram).

holy shit, if they announce this^ my bank account will be extremely unhappy. ok, who am i kidding, any galaxy note 10.1 that they announce will spell doom on my bank account ;). but i sincerely doubt the "revamped revamp", there hasn't been a single whisper anywhere about higher resolution.

I'm expecting the Galaxy Note 2. It got so much attention when it came out, and it's generally been a success, so it makes sense to hold a special event for it.

I really doubt they are going to make a huge announcement out of releasing the Note 10.1. When I last saw the specs, it appeared to have pretty weak components (when compared to competitors products being released currently), and Samsung really hasn't done well in the tablet market since Asus delivered the Transformer Prime. I also tend to think that Samsung is reluctant to draw too much attention to their abysmal support of their tablets; the Galaxy Tab 10.1 still hasn't seen an official ICS update, despite being the first tablet to get a version of CM9 and virtually every other Samsung product released in the last year has been updated (at least, internationally). The Note 10.1 is compelling, people (like myself) would love to have a medium precision stylus with a screen that size to work with, but the rumored specs make it seem like a product designed to be obsolete from day one.

Prepare for the GALAXY NOTE 2. It will be announced August 15th. It will launch on all carriers just like the Galaxy S3 did this summer. Launch date for US carriers will be October 1st. This is my wish.

I reckon Samsung will be announcing that a deal has been cut with Apple, and that all Galaxy devices from now on will run iOS.

Or maybe all iOS devices will have TouchWhiz?
