Whenever a new version of Android is announced, everyone is curious whether or not their device will end up getting the update. While it's usually assumed that the latest flagship devices will receive this sort of update, HTC has issued a statement removing all doubt:

We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google's latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean.

A brand-new high end device is slated to get a bump up in Android version?! Shocker, I know.

In all seriousness, though, this news isn't surprising at all. However, it is good to see HTC take a little initiative and let owners of the aforementioned handsets know that the update will be making its way to their handset.

Eventually.

If only they took the initiative to tell the customers when the kernel source for the One XL was coming...

Oh and I'm suprised there was no mention of the Evo 4G LTE.

C'mon Evo 3D! Buying a smartphone is like gambling, you never know when update support for your device will be dropped :(

    • Chris Webster

Us rooted people already have Jellybean for the 3D ^.^

      • Kaero

Oh I know :) I have a GSM one though and there aren't any daily drivers out right now so I'm using DevilToast 0.7. I'll end up with JB whenever Agrebren gets it working satisfactory enough to release it.

I sincerely hope they update sprints flagship Evo 4g LTE phone. If not, I will be really disappointed in HTC. My fault then, I have high hopes for this.

    • David Keith

Also just confirmed that the ASUS Transformer Infinity is getting Jelly Bean!!!!

And now we wait for the complaining to start.... As in, How come I don't have Jelly Bean Yesterday?! It must be Google's fault or {insert carrier name here} fault!! ROFLMAO.

I am however glad there is an official announcement

HTC is a dying company. Look at their stock. There is allot of competition out there like Google and Samsung and so on, but HTC is slow, if ever updates Sprint phones. I have the EVO 3D and the 4G LTE and I'm getting screwed on both of them. From now on, I'm going with a company that supports their products opposed to not!
