google-nexus-7-2

Ever since the Nexus 7 was first announced, it has been in "ships soon" status on the Play Store. No matter how many times you F5'd it, nothing changed (don't lie - you know you did it). Then, a few days ago Google confirmed that pre-ordered N7s had started shipping. Heck, you could even walk in to some retailers and buy one. But if you're one of those Play Store purists (do those really exist?) the time has come: the 8GB Nexus 7 is now available directly from El Goog itself.

Unfortunately, the 16GB version is still sitting idly at "ships in 3-4 weeks, so if 8GB isn't enough for you, the wait continues.

If, however, the 8 GB variant is calling your name - you can get your goods much, much sooner.

still sucks, I ordered mine on 2012-06-28 and still have not seen any notices of shipment. :(

    • Tyler Chappell

Ditto, I ordered mine with the cover. Not a single shipping notice.

  • David

I'm still waiting on my 16GB model ordered June 27th to be shipped. As are the majority of Canadian and British people.

Ordered an 8GB yesterday and it was on the doorstep at 9:30 this morning. They don't skimp on shipping speed for the $6.99!

Google really jacked up. I'm happy for you, but there are thousands who ordered almost 3 weeks ago who haven't even had theirs shipped yet. That's not the way it should be.

  • fixxmyhead

got a 8gb and mine should be in the mail waiting for me today, at least thats what the tracking number says

Sure would be nice for them to ship me my pre-ordered copy.
What was the point of pre-ordering?

  • sgtguthrie

Could 8gb really be enough for anyone? I wish they'd get a 32gb version! Or maybe an sd slot ;-)

I think 8 will be fine you can only watch a few movies at a time and with so many streaming services I have no need to have 16GB since I plan to wipe and flash all the time on it.

Just ordered the 16GB on Saturday. It was listed as a 1-2 week shipping window at the time. I sure hope that's still accurate!

Still at 1-2 Weeks on my google store page :( put my order in yesterday (Monday).

I just got mine from staples (16GB).. I ordered it Saturday when I noticed it said "delivered" on the 17th. Hours before that it said pre-order. I might have just gotten lucky. Im loving it.. id say more than my Asus tf101. light , easy to hold and solid construction. Im in heaven with my gsm nexus and Nexus 7. Asus did a great job on the construction.

I must say, AP looks mighty fine from my N7.

    • onpoint G

Booooo way to rub it in guy lol

      • Wayne Randall

i wish you had your N7, i really do. the wait was worth it.

protip: (WiFi tether from phone + ES file explorer FTP)+(ES FTP on the N7)= endless storage. no wires, adapters, cards or thumbs needed, no rooting needed (on the N7), and best of all no data usage. my Inc2 is now my pocket cloud.

I was thinking about doing something like this... :)
          Nexus 7 + Android phone + 32GB Micro SD Card = :D <--- Me

When did most people order? I ordered on the 29th in the UK and haven't received an email or anything confirming shipping. Lots of people are receiving their Nexus' but is anyone in the UK?

  • Kenny O

Ordered an 8 gb and a 16 gb and a cover on June 28th, still have not even charged my card yet. Slightly annoyed that I ordered from the source and still nothing. I called customer service early today, waited for an hour and 15 minutes to have someone tell me that it may ship tomorrow. Just tried to call again hoping to get a CSR that knew a bit more, now the number does not even work - just a recorded message that says they can't take my call. I love you Google, but I'm seriously miffed at this one.

does anyone know how long the galaxy nexus takes to ship? I live in Canada but I have an American relative for a shipping address.

    • Shane Allen

I believe all the US preorders through the Play Store forced 2-day shipping, with no other options available. As for other retailers and other countries, I don't know.

Ordered a 16gb June 27 while the keynote introduction speech was still in progress. No shipping info yet.

I preordered just a week or so ago, and got my 16gb today.

I ordered a 16gb about 2 days after the keynote and I got it on Tuesday. It's kinda been established that ordering with the 'smart' case was delaying shipments (I'm too lazy to drag up a reference link, just google for it). There's also some possibility that there's slight delays because of manufacturing defects. The one that came to me has the screen lifting up in the mid-to-upper left side. That particular problem is supposedly associated to loose screws inside, but I'm just going to RMA the device and get another. I really like it, but I can live without it for another week or two if I must...I'm not going to risk the screen being damaged just because of a minor manufacturing mistake.
