Today's a good day to give things away. We're already giving away a couple Nexus 7s, and now we have something for all your ski/snowboard/other snow sport junkies out there: Recon MOD Live, which retails for $399, and Briko Alpine Goggles ($199). That's a $600 value!

This contest is now over. Here is our winner, selected by Recon and AP: Aleksander Żarczyński. His entry conquered our hearts:

Congratulations - your prize is already on its way (to Poland)!

Everyone else - keep participating and stay tuned to Android Police so that you don't miss our upcoming giveaway announcements. You can follow AP on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and RSS.

Update: Here's Aleksander with his new goggles:

So, let's address the first question on everyone's mind: what on earth does this have to do with Android?! In fact, Recon Mod is a nifty little gadget that, in fact, runs Android (Gingerbread) to output information to a small display in the bottom right corner of the goggles. It can display all sorts of useful information, including:

  • Speed
  • Altitude
  • Vertical
  • Distance
  • Jump Airtime, Distance, Height and Drop
  • GPS Location
  • Chrono/Tracker
  • Temperature
  • Run Counter
  • Stats History with Maximums, Minimums, Averages
  • Widescreen
  • Time
  • Bluetooth Low Energy Remote Control
  • Navigation
  • Caller ID
  • Text Messaging
  • MP3 Song Playlists
  • Wireless Compatibility with Select Wearable Sports Video Cameras
  • Transforms your MOD Live into a Viewfinder

To get a better idea of how the Recon MOD works, have a look at this video from The Verge:

Pretty rad, right? There's also an SDK so devs can create basically anything that they want for the MOD:

And a couple more, just because they're neat:

So, the giveaway. Here's the deal: Artem has one Recon MOD and a pair of Briko Goggles made for the MOD laying around. In fact, he would've reviewed them this past winter, but Mother Nature decided that snow just wasn't in the cards for Tahoe. Ergo, the item has been opened, and even worn around the office a bit, but is basically unused. And you can have it. For Free. But first you have to do some things.

These are actual pics of what you'll get.

To enter for your chance to win, we want a photo. A photo of your current snow goggles - they don't have to be on you, per se; feel free to throw them on your cat, dog, horse, gerbil, kid... whatever. Oh, and while you're at it, do something entertaining. Make us laugh. We're going to hand pick the winner based on our favorite photo, so make your entries count!

Upload your photo to and make sure to post the direct link into your comment. And if you want to enter more than once, go for it. Just reply to your first comment so we can keep all entries together. Got it? Good.
