Owners of ASUS' original Eee Pad Transformer have something to be excited about, as the update to software version 9.2.1.27 began rolling out earlier today.

While the update isn't too exciting (keeping the device at Android 4.0.3), it does bring a handful of fixes that TF101 users have been waiting for for some time. Among them are fixes for video playback, Chrome performance, and various app performance issues. Unofficial user reports indicate that the update may also bring smoother performance overall. Here's the full (official) change log:

9.2.1.27 Release Notes

  • Fix Chrome browser and black screen issues
  • Fix "Mobile Dock Battery saving mode" bug
  • Fix movie playback hang issue
  • Enhance MyLibrary and Vibe performance
  • Enhance AppBackup stability
  • Enhance Email stability
  • Update translation for Settings

As usual, users looking to grab the update manually need only check for system updates in their device's Settings menu.

Thanks, Aiman!

Any news on when Asus will be bringing Jelly Bean to this device? They were one of the first with ICS (and been good about providing ongoing updates to improve things since) so I hope that repeats with Jelly Bean!

They were still a few months with ICS, and now they have the TF101, Slider, TF Prime, TF300, and TFP Infinity to look after. Late August would be a guess at the earliest. Officially at least. Then again, we didn't get a good unofficial ICS build until official had been pushed.

We don't really know if ASUS will update the TF101 at all to JB. And if they do, my best would be far later than August.

        • ericl5112

Like I said, at the earliest.

I wouldn't be surprised, given the timing of this update, if this update included code to prep for the upgrade to JB. They (asus) did a similar thing leading up to ICS from HC.
Given they've built the first out-of-the-box JB device for Google they should be pretty quick rolling it out to their other devices.

I tried a lot, and Asus is the best with updates :) Gimme Jelly Bean, and I'll tell the world.

Anyone knows how to update if the tablet is rooted? I just get an error message in Rogue Recovery. Is it possible to flash that "dlpkgfile" file in Rogue Recovery?

same problem here with OTA update. last time this happened, i flashed my device.

I got it. Just use the program from this thread
        http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689193
I used the v1.1 to install the stock recovery but it failed to root the tablet after updating to .27. I then used v1.0 and everything is OK now :)

restore to stock version also wiping your data right? *sigh
guess, i'll just wait for jelly bean update.
          this update can wait.

Is anyone else having any issues with the track pad on their dock after updating? It seems sluggish and not as responsive.

I wonder how many of these improvements are already implemented in the Android Revolution HD ROM and guevor kernel. I bet there's a huge discussion at XDA going on already. Good to see updates rolling in though.

  • billc

Its improvements are obvious, a good thing made better. Any word if we will get JB?

...and how? There is no option to delete it. Therefore i asked some kind of admin to delete it. But it's OK, let it be there...

  • TechGuy21

sweet. hope ARHD update to this.

    • Taleim

Yeah same here. Best ROM i've ever used in terms of performance. Hope future releases use guevor kernel and new vdiai codecs, would still like to get smooth 720p mkv playback on my tf101 one day...

After updating to 9.2.1.27, I've been unable to play GTA 3. Suck!

Just upgraded to 9.2.1.27 this morning, and GTA 3 still working!

My tablet is having serious problems since the upgrade.. 'Launcher' keep failing, not responding. Only way I can get to apps is when I get a notification pop up like for mail and stuff, whenever I try to go to 'home' it hangs or tells me launcher is not responding, wait or ok. anyone else see anything like this ?

My TF101 is having Gmail issues after the .27 update of ICS that was pushed last week. It also seems to be slowing down, requiring a re-start to clear memory buffers?

Has anyone got a quick fix? This is by far the worst update on my TF I have had.
