In typical ASUS fashion, the Taiwanese company has released a teaser video for its upcoming showcase at CompuTex 2012 in Taipei, Taiwan. As usual, the video is about as vague as it gets, only making a brief reference to the cloud and the "next transformations," suggesting that we'll a see a "new" entry into the Transformer line.

Update: As one of the comments points out, the tags indicated that this may actually be a Windows 8 Transformer:

However, I wouldn't get my hopes up for an entirely new device - I'd be willing to wager a large sum that this will just be the official unveiling of the Transformer Pad Infinity, the big brother to the Transformer Prime that features a 1920x1200 display. Fortunately, we don't have long to wait before finding out what ASUS has up its sleeve: CompuTex 2012 begins in three days, on May 31.

    How about that Google tablet?

I don't see that being from the Transformer line, nor do I think it will carry the Transformer branding. My opinion, though.

It HAS to be called the Nexus Prime, right?

        Right?

          That would be hilarious.

Ill add to you vager, infinity here we come =)

  • Thomas

I wish it were a Windows 8 "Transformer", but likely just the infinity yeah :(

Can you imagine if THE Transformers ran Windows 8, the movies would have been VERY different!! :D

It's obvious the Decepticons were running Apple software; they were insistent on being the only ones, ruling everything, and anywhere they went they wanted to entrench themselves and not let go...just like a virus.

At least in the first movie it seemed like the Autobots were running Windows.  The audio driver wasn't working on Bumblebee, most of them acted kinda clueless and childish (sounds like the User Account Control), and they were basically all the same (cars or trucks) compared to the Decepticons (jets, canons, tanks, boombox, and whatever they turned Soundwave into).

Look at the tags on the Youtube video. Maybe a Transformer Pad Infinity tablet with Windows 8?

      Nice catch!

Maybe even a tablet running both Android and Windows? Damn I can't wait!

I'm willing to bet that's exactly it. Dual-boot = the newest way a Transformer will be able to transform.

          • grellanl

Doubt it, I don't think a dual-boot device can be certified for Windows on ARM (Windows RT as they're calling it now), according to what we've heard so far. All the Windows RT devices will ship with locked bootloaders and are likely to be very difficult to hack.

They didn't forget the android tag though, I'm still holding my money for an infinity date.

      • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com/ Cody Toombs

Given that there are both Windows 8 and Android tags, anybody following the news that Microsoft is cracking down really hard regarding bootloaders and strictly prohibiting dual-boot (at least for now), and Asus is using the term 'Showcase'...My prediction is that they are going to have at least 2 tablets to show off, one will be running Android while the other is running Windows 8.

I'm going to extend the prediction to say that both tablets will be nearly identical.  The one for Android will be the Infinity we've already heard about.  The one for Windows 8 will be nearly identical, but I bet it will have at least one feature that is not available on the Android version.  Microsoft cares a lot about winning ground on the tablet space, and they are surely expecting a lot from their launch partners...and it's extremely consistent with the way they've approached the laptops with the Windows Certified program (which is sorta similar to the Nexus program in it's own way).

Awww yeah!! I cant wait for my Infinity!!

  • tBs_Battousai

I am going to be looking for a replacement to my Xoom in the next six months and if the nexus tablet isn't 10" with a quad core chip and a full HD screen I'll be getting a infinity without a doubt...

  • crankerchick

    Infinity date please!

  • Striderevil

Sounds more like a new cloud features and experience for transformer users rather than hardware lol
