A few hours ago, the Acer Germany page on Facebook (translated) posted an update stating that there was a fault with an important component in the A51x series of tablets. But Acer did not state which component failed to pass their quality control tests. Unfortunately, this means that there will be a delay in delivery of the Iconia Tab A510/A511 tablets, and Acer has been unable to confirm when the faulty component will be replaced.

Amazon has also stopped taking orders for the device as customers have reported that there could be something wrong with it.

Owners of the A510/A511 tablets who are concerned that they have a faulty device ought not to worry, as a recent comment by Acer on its Facebook page indicates that tablets that were already shipped passed their quality control tests. Nevertheless, do let us know in the comments if your A510 tablet has been having any issues

Our reviews found the A510 to be a fantastic tablet for its price, and it is a shame that some users will have to wait to get their hands on it. But if you want the upgraded version of the A510 with a 1080p display, Acer has confirmed (in the same Facebook post) that the A700 will be shipping in "week 24", or between June 11 and 17.

In fact, it seems on the different forum and boards that plenty of device were faulty .
I had to replace the first one i had because of reboots and unstable behavior, but my new one works flawlessly.
One other thing to mention is that the last OTA update led to a REALLY HUGE decrease of the tablet sensitivity, and most of the users are angry about that and the lack of reaction of Acer  to provide a new update.
I personally had to downgrade it because of this..

I've had mine since the release date in Canada and it works very well. I also installed the OTA update and have not noticed any change in sensitivity. I have the heat issue where the bottom right side gets warm, but it's no warmer than my HP Touchpad got. All in all, it's a great tablet...highly recommended.

Wow, that's a bummer. I have already sold my Tab 10.1 and was going to get this in 2 weeks time. I don't really want to pay extra for 1080p, because it's nonsense to me. Let's just wait and see how things pan out...

Are you talking about the prize of the last design contest, "the awesome Iconia A510 tablet", "the best Android tablet currently available"?
The one that had the author writing: "It's amazing already, but just how amazing is it?"
    ...well, now we know. ^^

Give me a break. They clearly said that A510 units which have already been shipped are free from this issue.

      • PhilNelwyn

Ummm... yes, that's why you should have taken my comment as what it just is : humor ("^^" is not a mistype, it's a smiley).
The way the A510 was praised in the other article, and now that piece of news, it sounds hilarious to me, and it has nothing to do with your sincerity or your integrity if that's what you thought.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Yeah, that one, because the one we tested was working just fine.

      • PhilNelwyn

I don't understand why you've even bothered replying.
Are there AP readers so silly that you believed I was really complaining?
If someone writes a comment like this one seriously, I think that you should ignore it.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

People complain about *everything*. Btw, I've never seen a smiley written with "^^", I thought you were using them as up arrows to rub in what you just said even more.

          • PhilNelwyn

It's Asian, I think it comes from mangas.

Geez, you guys are so...up on stuff!!

I knew it. Actually I thought it took so long for Acer to screw things up.
Have been dealing with acer's hardware issues for almost three years, both with two notebooks from ASPIRE Series 4540 and 5620. Their support sucks as bad as Asus' support team. Good to know.
