It's here! It's here! It's here! Ok. Calm down. Woo. For those of you who have been living under a digital rock for the last year, turntable.fm is a music sharing service. You and four of your best buddies log in to a virtual dance floor, create playlists, and take turns playing songs for a room full of listeners who can then vote your songs up or down. DJs can accrue points, get swag, and become virtual DJ legends. Or, if you prefer, just sit back and enjoy rooms full of hand-selected music. Take that, Pandora!

Turntable.fm has been available for a little over a year online, and the company has also created an iOS app. So, now it's our turn, everyone! Or, everyone, that is, from the US. Unfortunately, international music streaming rights are still confusing as heck.

Not for costumers outside USA :/

The whole website doesn't work outside the U.S., does it? Not surprised the app doesn't either - we'll clarify that.

Too bad it's still not available in fn Germany and going through a VPN just isn't worth it to me...

    Not it Canada it isn't...

    It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly! It's ugly!
    Is this screenshots from iOS?

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Why is it ugly, it looks like TT's site - what did you expect?

Clearly the screenshots are from Android - look at the notification area.

      • luciofm

It's ugly because it is just a rip off the iOS version, copying inclusive the iOS UI controls (like the share button).

They didn't took care to make an Android version of the app.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

OK, the share button does look inexcusable, now that I saw it.

          • Relic419

Well, is it JUST the share button? Probably no share intents and no lock screen controls. Also, those right pointing carets.

And this is just the beginning. Look at the Google+ app. iOS gets the update first? WTF Google?

        • http://twitter.com/redbullcat Phil Oakley

Yeah, this is just a port of the iOS app.

  • Bob Dlux

Install... can only log in with Twitter or Facebook? Uninstall.

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

Isn't that the same as their website?

      • Bob Dlux

I don't know. I've never heard of this app/website before this. Seemed interesting. I'm just not so keen on them being able to see who I follow or my friends.

        • http://www.androidpolice.com/ Artem Russakovskii

I think you should give them a chance, it's worth it. If you feel especially paranoid, just use a fake Twitter account, never hurts to have one around anyway.

          • Bob Dlux

I guess I'm just a little tired of forced social media. I'll give it a shot. Only for you Artem.

  • Andreas Trygg

    US only as usual :(

  • Brian Hamrick

    OMG FINALLY

  • Dan Delany

Thanks for covering the news, hope you enjoy the app! As mentioned, it's unfortunately still US-only - we'd love to open it to international users but the licensing rights are tricky. However, we're working on deals with publishers outside the US, so check back soon!

App looks interesting. To bad it's US only, but not your fault.
The Facebook thing, however, is a bad choice. I, for one, will not use the app, as long as i have to link it to something else. And I don't wanna bother creating a fake account.
I hope you will reconsider the Facebook thing. I do believe more people would enjoy your app.
      Good luck with it.

      • xsirxx

Same here.  I want to use this soooo bad, but im not linking accounts, no thanks!

    • Stephen Milone

it's playing one song then music is stopping for me. even while the app is foreground. but I'm still in the room.

should of hired me when I sent my resume

  • Loren Cogar

Loaded the app, was listening to a DJ and already got a force close on my Galaxy Nexus.

  • Sahnivyom

What if someone pulls the. Apk?
Additionally maybe using orbot will circumvent the only US restriction

    Just a theory

    • cordell507

the service itself only works inside the US it's not turntable that chooses that either, it has to do with record companies

  • Rojadouglas

Omg this app is so awesome, thank you for sharing
