Do you like food? Of course you do! I haven't met anyone who doesn't like food. Maybe not all varieties of food, but I think that the blanket term food brings a generally pleasing thought to the mind of most humans.

Given our natural love for food and comradery, the majority of us also appreciate the restaurant experience. But finding the right place to dine can be a task, especially if you're trying to eat on a budget. Thankfully, Restaurant.com just released its official Android app into the Play Store.

I know, it makes me sad to see a new app with screenshots from Froyo, too.

The Restaurant app will help you:

  • Find the best restaurant deals nearest you using location-based technology.
  • Travel with the perfect dining app, and search for restaurant deals by Zip code or city.
  • Purchase certificates on the Go! Redeeming is easy, Just show wait staff digital cert on your Android.
  • Avoid getting lost searching for new cuisine with built-in mapping and directions.

The app is free, so hit the widget to grab it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get some lunch.

Why are the screenshots taken from a pre-Gingerbread release of Android??!
Though I'm sure this app will come in handy, in all honesty it could do with a bit of work on the design front...

Thanks for the feedback Matt! We hope you'll give it a shot as it's super functional for deals on the go.

    US Only.

Could have done with that either in the article, app description or via a region restriction lol

Has anyone ever used Restaurants.com? It's a bloody scam. It forces gratuity so in most cases, unless you spend very close to the bottom you're actually more expensive.

Used it at ihop, 60 dollar check, 10 bucks off... 18% gratuity added.

Restaurant.com is different than the site you used.  Not pleural.  IHOP is not on Restaurant.com.  Plus you get a minimum of $15 off on a $25 certificate, so this was not a Restaurant.com cert which you claim you bought. On occasion, they have a promotion where you buy the $25 cert for $7 or even $4.  Try again.

Sorry, meant Restaurant.com. And yes, it is. It's per-branch not all ihops are covered. I bought two 100$ certs for 7 over xmas, and after the experience will never use it again.

Don't assume unless you've actually used the service. It's one thing to be angry, like me, it's another to bash someone when you obviously have no idea how it works. The certificates X off when you spend Y or more. Not a straight giftcard. Every deal around here will make you pay more if you use it.

Hi TynanDeRosa - Just wanted to address your question on the gratuity. We had the gratuity to protect the server to ensure they are tipped on the full amount. Unfortunately too many people tipped on the discounted amount.  Also, we have a 100% satisfaction guarantee so at any time for any reason, we will exchange your certificate for another restaurant of your choice. You can reach us at social@restaurant.com or 800-979-8985. Hope you'll give us another try. Thanks!

I guess all of you must have been living in a cave someplace..I have used Restaurant.com and saved a ton of money, often times half off for example $25.00 for a $50.00 certificate, and even more savings when they have a sale. and just so you all know...you are ALWAYS supposed to tip on the whole check before any discounts..Give me and your waitstaff at least a little bit of a break..Grow up..

We'd like to be able to use an "eGift Card" (restaurant.com Credit) to obtain new restaurant.com gift certificates using this Android app. Unfortunately, the app presently only allows *purchasing* of new certificates and not redeeming gift certificates.  It's half way there, keep working on it!!
