I've had the European version of the One X for a few weeks now and in my book, it's the best damn phone on the market right now, bar none. David spent some time with the AT&T variant (which lost some cores and storage but picked up LTE on its trip to the States) and came away equally as impressed, calling it "the best all-around Android phone you can buy in the US today."

Surprisingly, the price is entirely reasonable, too - it checks in at just $550 off contract, $200 on contract from AT&T, or $150 from Amazon Wireless. That's not a lot for a phone that's the first of the next-gen devices. Check out the specs:

  • Processor: MSM8960 dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 at 1.5GHz
  • GPU: Adreno 225
  • Operating System: Android 4.0.3 with Sense 4.0
  • Display: 4.7" Super IPS LCD2 (720x1280, 312DPI)
  • Memory: 1GB RAM / 16GB internal (12GB usable - 2GB for apps, 10GB for storage)
  • Cameras: 8MP rear / 1.3MP front
  • Battery: 1800mAh, non-removable
  • Ports/Expandable Storage: microUSB port, HTC dock contacts / none
  • Thickness: 8.9mm / .35"
  • Weight: 130g / 4.6oz

If you're on AT&T and are eligible for an upgrade.... well, what are you waiting for?

Too bad the bootloader for the AT&T One X remains locked without any sign of HTCDEV support due to carrier restrictions.

If the consumer is in love with lag, than i highly recommend this phone. Talk about a phone thats suppose to be fast but isnt.

Mine is laggy. Just got it today. Grey version.

So all the reviews that say it is super fast and buttery smooth are wrong? Go troll somewhere else idiot!

I bought this phone today.  No lag here (unlike with my previous iPhone 4).

      LOL... Use the phone first...

This or the Galaxy S III... hmm.. They're very comparable but the Galaxy S III has a MicroSD card slot and the One X doesn't. But it's still a nice phone. I wouldn't sweat the boot loader thing, won't take hackers long.

    • sgtguthrie

And a removable battery...and an unlocked bootloader.  I say S III for the win!

      • RaviShah

you won't know about the unlocked bootloader on att till it comes out in the usa.

        • sgtguthrie

Samsung hasn't locked one down yet, they won't start now ;-)

Matters not. Android is a poor system due to upgrades not being backward compatable...from what I hear...correct me with references if I am off base here. I am always interested in being educated

Like all OS upgrades, there are times when it's not backwards compatible if your phone's hardware won't support the new OS.  My PC and and my Mac both have the same problems with windows and Apple.  Even iOS has the same problem.  But a lot of older android phones are getting ICS, so yes, it's backwards compatible.  Android OS is only more fragmented because of all the changes each carrier has to make to their own brand, but pure Android is not fragmented and is a very good OS and a lot more customizable than iOS.  (had both).  But not everyone wants to customize their phones like a lot of Android people do, so there's still room for both... android, which is more customizable, and iOS, a simple phone for simple people! LOL

You mean like the latest IOS upgrades break the Iphone 3 and 3GS?  If they UG to the current rev they become so slow they are unusable.  Make an appointment at apple store and they will tell you you cant un-do and upgrade that you should just buy a new phone.

Jealous of this phone. My rezound works for me though.

  • Ps3y3Ops

Now with an awesome locked bootloader! Suck it at&t!
