Remember that problem Galaxy Nexus devices were having on Sprint where owners couldn't get any connection to any data network at all? Well, if you happened to be one of those owners, how could you forget? Worry not, though! Sprint just announced it will be rolling out a fix over "a 1-2 day period."

You'll need to be connected to a WiFi network to do anything (though this shouldn't be new to you if you're affected by this problem). Hopefully this will be the end of the data issues for Galaxy Nexus owners on Sprint. If you've been among those affected, let us know in the comments if this fix works for you.

I like how long Sprint takes to ensure an OS is "Just Right" only to find out the phone may or may not be able to get data.

What about that 'pesky no data problem' that's been affecting Nexus S 4G users since the days of Gingerbread?

    Nice typo: "Update"

      Where?

In the picture...the bolded part about having to be connected to WiFi.

Haha, I didn't even notice. "udpate"

Sprint has a "No Data" problem with all of their phones. It's a network problem not an OS bug. Sprint sucks so much. I can't wait to switch to Verizon. I will happily pay the ETF.

Wow you are really really smart!
Sprint/Verizon share their network with each other. If you don't have signal in Sprint then you don't have signal in Verizon unless your phone has issues.
      Congrats..

Please, tell me more about how this works, Mr. Cell Network Guru.

Whoops, I meant Cell Network Dumbass. Verizon and Sprint share roaming agreements, but not much else. Even with that sharing, it's mostly Sprint that leeches off of Verizon's network. Verizon's native network is significantly larger than Sprint's.

they DO NOT have roaming agreements anymore, sprint destroyed that years ago. I have both a sprint personal phone and a Verizon work phone and its true there is a big difference in coverage. I travel Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and Verizon is much better, however for those who dont travel the Minneapolis and saint Paul metro area coverage is very close and sprint is better in my home city of west saint paul

They still do have roaming agreements in a lot of areas. The roaming agreements that were struck by Sprint and Alltel before Verizon bought Alltel don't expire until 2016, and there's other agreements directly with Verizon. However, Sprint does utilize other carriers for roaming, too (like how they're using Pioneer in their home state). They've also lost a lot of native coverage over the past couple of years, especially around the states you travel in. I can't remember for sure if they actually ever had native towers there, or if they just had a strategic roaming agreement that expired, but either way, a good portion of that northern central area is now roaming-only.

Over the past year or so, they've also been sending our PRLs that have disabled EVDO roaming, limiting it to only 1xRTT.

"You'll need to be connected to a WiFi network to do anything."

    That should be Sprint's slogan.
