Just when you thought Quickoffice was becoming out of touch with its user base (specifically, with their wallets) the company has released a fairly major update to its two main Android apps.

Specifically, both Quickoffice Pro and Quickoffice Pro HD were today updated to version 5.5.32. The update brings more than a number bump, though; here's the official list of new features:

  • Select text and highlight
  • Insert shapes

  • Spellcheck
  • Display charts in .docx

Though the press release, interestingly enough, is not to be released until next Monday, the updated apps are available now. In case this is your first encounter with the mobile Office suite, Quickoffice Pro (the smartphone version) costs $14.99, while Quickoffice Pro HD (the tablet version) is $19.99.

Not on Amazon app store yet :/

Looks like the updated versions are up on Amazon

The saddest part of Quickoffice is not the price, but the fact that I got it for free from the Amazon App Store. Now I have to decide whether or not it is worth re installing the Amazon App Store, or paying for this for real.

    Quite the conundrum.

Yeah, My dad bought this for his transformer prime (for work purposes) so he was mildly pissed off with the lack of tablet features. Its great to see that the dev is still listening to the users and adding new features especially to the more powerful tablet area.

It's not on sale - these are full prices.

your price is wrong on the HD version, it's $20

    • http://www.androidpolice.com/author/jaroslav-stekl/ Jaroslav Stekl

As clarified in the post, the HD version is $19.99 on Google Play and $14.99 on Appbrain.

Appbrain lags a bit behind the Play Store, so if they updated the price recently, the widget won't reflect it. We did fix the price quoted in the post though, thanks.

Does anyone know if QuickOffice can open password-protected documents yet?

  • FrancescoDondi

Not so useful until it supprts .odt (Open Document), for me at least.

Watch out for these charlatans.  One thing they do not disclose is that when you tell them about your google/dropbox/cloud accounts the access token is sent to their servers and it is their servers that then access the cloud and deal with your docs.  If their servers ever get compromised then those access tokens can be used to impersonate you, delete/modify/access all the data etc.
