Owners of the Samsung Conquer 4G on Sprint may have received notification of a small OTA update this morning that brings a couple of little changes to the device, including a "security fix." Like with past updates, that basically translates into "removal of Carrier IQ software."

Aside from that, it also removes the Magic, Smoke, Maps, Nexus, Spectrum, Water, and Waveform live wallpapers (does anyone actually use those, anyway?). The update should be rolling out now according to Sprint's online documentation and will hit all devices within the next ten days.

If you just can't wait to grab the update, however, you should be able to pull it now in Settings > About phone > System updates.

    Thank god.

I woke up this morning and was completely distraught about the fact that the Conquer 4G had not received an OTA update for a while.

This is such a tremendous relief. I cannot think of a 1 generation old 4G Samsung device running on Sprint that was in greater need of an OTA update.

Thank you Samsung. I can tell that you are definitely sending out the most urgent OTA updates as soon as you can.

Oh yeah, when is ICS coming to the Epic 4G Touch and the Nexus S 4G?

At least it wasn't the most useless update. You should see the one Lucid got yesterday.
