Sure, you can use Google Docs on your phone or tablet for free, but what if you crave something a little more robust than Google's web-based offering? You would usually have to drop some serious cash on a full office suite in the Play Store, but today you can get a great deal on OfficeSuite Pro 5 which is on sale for just $2.99 through April 4th, a huge discount over its normal $15 price.

OfficeSuite Pro 5 comes with all the features you would expect from a full mobile office suite. For starters, it can edit and create Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. It's also a capable PDF reader with a built-in file browser. In addition to handling local documents, OfficeSuite Pro 5 can be plugged into Google Docs for the best of both worlds.

A recent design update gave the app a slick ICS-inspired interface, bringing with it ICS' characteristic action bar. OfficeSuite Pro 5 also offers a well-implemented tablet layout. This app was Amazon's free app of the day back in October 2011, and still sells for $10 there. It isn't likely this app will go free again any time soon though, so if you need a solid office suite on Android, this is a steal.

Thanks, Gary!

This is definitely my favorite office suite. Such a great deal - hell, for that price, I'd buy it again if I could.

  • Jesslyn

The last time I got this on sale, it was a sham. The $2.99 price was NOT for the entire suite and all the $15.00 functionality. Buyer Beware.

I don't know what you got last time but this is the main program in the Play Store that's on sale here, and it's as full-featured as OfficeSuite Pro gets.

i have OfficeSuite Pro from Amazon as a free app, which google decided to link to my market. so it shows up as purchased. bummer.

    • Sam

So you want to buy it again?

      • sriracha

no, i'd like to use it again.

You should still be able to download it from Amazon, or create a second Google account for the new purchase and just add it as a secondary account for the market on your phone.

I have it installed from Amazon when it was free but I despise updating from Amazon so I may go ahead and purchase it again.

          found this thread on xda:

i changed the instructions for firefox, but it works.

using the latest version of FF (v11.0):
          R-click on "Purchased"
          select "Inspect Element"
click HTML in the lower right corner of the screen
search for [data-ispurchased="true"] and change it to false
          hit [Enter]
          L-click "Purchased"
          complete your transaction!

Thank you for the browser trick. Used to do it with the old market:

But using the browser is more convenient.

It works sort of well on my Transformer. However, there is a big function missing that I need:

It does NOT have spell checker!

They say they may have spelling check "sometime soon". But I don't know when that is.

How is it compared to other mobile office suites?

Officesuite vs. Documents to go vs. Quickoffice vs. Thinkfree

    Which is the best???

I got it when it was free on Amazon apps market... Awesomeness is an underrated word.

OfficeSuite Pro is my favorite Office app. It looks beautiful too. They still have to fix a bug though. It can be seen here alongside a few other competitors: http://grantbarker.com/android_office_apps.html
If you scan the 3 apps at the top, you should be able to notice the bug. They will release version 6 soon according to Google Play.

They will release version 6 soon according to Google Play.

If they release version 6. Do I have to pay again, or will it be a free upgrade?

    Oh my! Permissions...

I don't know how good this app is, but I really think that permissions should come into consideration when comparing apps, and I'd rather buy Documents To Go as it doesn't require any little unsafe permissions to run.

    No problem guys!

IMHO it's the best office suite for Android out there. On my prime I use it a lot - it even has keyboard shortcuts like ctrl+s for saving which is awesome with the TP dock. Not even Polaris has that and it comes bundled with the Prime.
The tablet UI is great, too, and you can work with box.net and dropbox files seamlessly. I bought it at full price and don't regret one cent.
