[Updated x2: Captivate, Vibrant Too] CyanogenMod 9 Nightly Builds Now Available On The Samsung Galaxy S i9000/i9000B, Captivate, And Vibrant

The CyanogenMod team has certainly been busy this week; a few days ago we saw the first CyanogenMod 9 nightly builds appear for the AT&T Galaxy S II and HP Touchpad, and now the original Samsung Galaxy S can join in the party, too.

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.

It could oftentimes be unstable and not properly tested, lacking any changelogs, but eventually evolving into alphas, betas, release candidates, and finally stable releases.

Nightlies are available for both the i9000 and the i9000B, which is the Brazilian variant of the device, from the CyanogenMod downloads site.

      I see what you did there. I also agree.

      We will probably have to wait until the HTC Sense 3.6 with ICS update arrives for drivers and the kernel. Hopefully soon.

    Not for nothing, but a nightly just appeared for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi (p4wifi). I'm not sure if it'll be a regular nightly, but it's a lot better than just having a single month-old snapshot.

        Yeah, I was curious at about the labeling of the filename too. If it's really another snapshot then at least it must be pretty stable and usable (why do a 'special' release at all if you aren't happy with the results), but it's also a bit uninspiring because it hints that we're probably not looking at the same level of development attention (which seems to be true for all of the tablets still).

      Set up an account on gravatar.com with a picture. Then make sure you type in the email address on comment posts...everything else is automatic.

          You never have to touch (log into) gravatar again unless you want to change the picture or disable the account...and there isn't any kind of logging into AP (at least for us regular commentors)...you just have to make sure the correct email address is in the field to the side whenever you submit a comment (and with cookies enabled, those values will always be filled in automatically). Like I said, won't it's set up, it's all automatic. Couldn't be easier. :)

    All i have to say is wow, probably the least buggy nightly I've used (beside nightly 181 on cm7)
    Its based on Android 4.0.4, it doesn't get much fresher than this.

      Do I need gingerbread bootloader on my vibrant for CM9 or am I good to go ahead and flash over my CM7? Anyone?

        Avoid the gb boot loader. Your install will hang and you'll have to odin to stock.

    I guess my first real shot at CM9 will be when I get a new phone, root it and install CM9 myself.

    Countdown to Summer 2012.

    Shall it be a Galaxy Nexus or the HTC One X (Sprint)?

      Rob, try looking on XDA and RootzWiki for some ICS builds (they may be labeled Supersonic - it's the EVO 4G's codename). ICS for msm7k is pretty mature already, so your experience will most likely be enjoyable :)

      The latest nightly build for i9000 works very smoothly. camera/video works fine,phone calls,sms,email sync works fine.For normal daily use,this rom is excellent.
      i must say i haven't found any hiccups with this rom.
