It looks like users of Samsung's Galaxy SII Skyrocket are getting a chance at some Ice Cream Sandwich goodness a little sooner than anticipated – earlier this evening, RootzWiki posted a leaked build of ICS for the Skyrocket, dated March 14th. From the build.prop, it would seem that this may be the official release build, but of course there's no way of being positive.

Those with Windows and a copy of Odin can download and flash away. RootzWiki assures Mac and Linux users, however, that a solution is on the way. If you're tired of reading and want to get ICS on your Skyrocket already, just hit the download link below. Those interested can check out the full build.prop here.

And once again the OEM's butcher ICS... android is going to be run into the ground by OEMs

    • Jon Garrett

what are you missing in it? so it has Touch Wiz. the OS is still ICS. so what do you really want? all the features and improvements of ICS or something that "looks" like ICS.

ever since switching over from iOS to Android all I ever hear is complaints about Touch Wiz. you guys should use the iPhone for a while and then you'll that you're complaining about nothing.

"so what do you really want? all the features and improvements of ICS or something that "looks" like ICS."

        I want both!

  • ?

Yea and what about my Galaxy S II huh, huh? Where is ICS for it hmm?

  • Jordan

    AT&T winning again!

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

Well, they haven't released it officially yet, but if they do before any other carriers, I'd have to wonder why their QA can pull this off while other carriers' are dragging their feet.

      • cosmic

GSM has open standards so its easier to work that part out vs CDMA. Then as far as this phone goes you have in house processors (exynos) in at&t's version and snapdragon processors in tmobiles version.

        • Scyke

The Skyrocket also has the Snapdragon SoC not the Exynos.

    • drksilenc

except sprint has had ics leaks for weeks all the way since febuary

  • http://www.thepixelpuse.com aj

Ewww. Why not just flash cm9?

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

Because it's not nearly ready for a stable release. Plus, is there even an official CM9 release for the AT&T SGS II?

      • augustofretes

No, but as far as I've seen CM9 for the international works just fine on it. The only problem is with the hardware buttons.

        • Scyke

That is for the original sgs 2 on att. This is the skyrocket which does not have ics except for this leak.

        • Mark

With the AT&T SGS2 and CM9 it's more than the hardware buttons, that's minor. Everytime the phone goes to deep sleep the screen wakes up. It's causing a severe battery drain issue. They think it's in the kernel one of the minor differences between the international and AT&T SGS2 version. But until it's fixed CM9 is basically unusable for me on the SGS2. I don't know what's going on the Skyrocket side but this official leak is nice (you lucky bastards! :-) )

      • http://www.thepixelpuse.com aj

I didn't realize there wasn't a CM9 build for the Skyrocket. Also, (and I realize this is strictly opinion) I think stock ICS looks far better than what I'm looking at here. Every build of CM9 I've used so far on my NS4G has been decent enough. Everything seems to be in working order. But then again, the ladies do love the touchwiz, so I guess I understand the appeal ;)

    • Nick

CM9 is balls right now. Are you actually using that shit?

      • http://www.thepixelpuse.com aj

I'm using it as a daily driver on my NS4G. Works pretty damn well for a nightly build.

  • jeff donuts

Finally I can get ics on my t989

    • Lavafreezer

Have a nice time bricking your phone this is NOT FOR T-MOBILE DEVICE

  • http://www.truefreethinkers.org Jonathan

Butt Ugly UI. What's the point of ICS again?

    • Simon Belmont

Blame that on Samsung and TouchWiz. Stock ICS is actually a thing of beauty to behold, IMO.

Though, to be fair, TouchWiz has improved over the years. It's a far cry from its early days at least.

  • Simon Belmont

Another ready (or nearly ready) ICS ROM for a handset from AT&T. Frankly, I'm amazed that I am even typing those words.

C'mon Sprint, give me ICS on my EVO 3D. CM9 compels you to.

    • drksilenc

lol we have had leaks on the et4g for weeks now maybe u should switch

  • Schwack

Noob question - do I need to root my Skyrocket to use this flash? Also, by doing this will this void my warranty?? I want to try this but have some concerns. Thanks.

    • drksilenc

yes yes and more still if you dont know how to use odin or dont knowwhat it is do ALOT of reading before you attempt this

  • http://androidpandora.blogspot.com/ Myself

looks ugly as fuck, needs to be said

  • http://www.spencerpablophotography.com Spencer

Hopefully this means us LTE Galaxy Note users can get ICS soon (the Skyrocket and the Note have tons in common).

  • joey

Hey has anyone else had issues with their home and search keys? Mine are not working since I flashed the update

    • rcd

my issue with this rom on my skyrocket is that my wallpaper now only crops portrait. Really bugs me.

  • jimv1983

Leaked on March 25th and as of today (May 27th) still not officially released? What is taking so long?
