If you didn't quite make it to Daily Steals' awesome deal a couple of days ago and still want to get your hands on an unlocked Galaxy Nexus at a crazy discount, Negri Electronics has you covered.

The online electronics dealer is offering the 16GB unlocked Galaxy Nexus for just $459.99. It's worth noting though, that the units being sold by Negri have NTT Docomo branding (meaning a teeny tiny logo near the bottom of the backplate). Negri is also sure to point out that this model is, in fact, of the Yakju variety, and will come with Android 4.0.2.

In case you need some reminding, here are the Galaxy Nexus' key specs one more time:

  • Pure Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience

  • 16GB internal storage

  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor

  • 4.56" 720p HD Super AMOLED display

  • 5MP rear shooter (and 1.3MP front-facing camera)

  • 1GB RAM

If you think getting a Galaxy Nexus for a cool $290 discount is something you'd be interested in, just head over to Negri's sale page here and place your order.

would the difference in model number make a difference in installing custom rom designated for i9250?

Since it's running yakju, I'm going to say no, but don't quote me on that.

NTT Docomo branded G-Nexus is not yakju but YAKJUSC/maguro, I have one. It has no tethering enabled and has some local customization, like earthquake notifications and japanese input system.
Definitely NOT pure stock Google. So beware.

Also it can be unlocked only if you pay about 3,000 yen to Docomo using your account. There is no unlocked G-Nexus sold buy Docomo in Japan.

Hmm - the ad states "Unlocked" in the title, so that would be deceptive advertising (if it isn't unlocked already)

How does it matter? You can just get the phone and flash the 4.0.2 yakju factory image from Google's servers. As far as Negri Electronics is concerned, they were one of the first to offer the unlocked GNex in the US, which was imported directly from the UK. I know because that's what I'm using right now, and their customer service is excellent. They don't do false advertising. This is a great deal, especially if the price stays.

I have a feeling a new Nexus or updated Nexus is coming soon. All these price drops...
