Ice Cream Sandwich. It's more than a buzzword in the Android community right now - it's what most users are waiting for in one way or another. Some are waiting on the update to roll out to their device, while others are still waiting to find out if their device will even get the update. For HTC Rezound users, however, the wait ends today - as long as they're willing to flash a leaked firmware, that is.

This is a release candidate for the OTA and by no means a final version.

2.  CMAS support added
3. IPv6 over eHRPD supported
4. UI updated to Sense 3.6

9. Group message not displaying originating MDN
10. Call button not disabled when using voice commands
11. People widget displaying two different birthdays
12. Verizon Location Agent removed – impacting battery life
13. SSO athentication fails for VCAST Tones

Thanks to a loyal tipster, we have in our possession the ICS update for the HTC Rezound. As always, since we have it, you have it. Without further ado, here is the download and installation instructions:

Download (MD5: 58b0f42defc689650ddd5128f195dc7d)

The first three mirrors are completely stock builds and will break root. Grab the pre-rooted version if you want to keep root.

Installation instructions for the stock build

This will not work if you used the HTC Bootloader unlock tool. Your device must be fully stock with a locked bootloader.
  • After downloading the file, rename it to "PH98IMG.zip" (no quotes)
  • Place the renamed file onto the root of the SD Card
  • Power down your device
  • Reboot into the bootloader by holding VOL DOWN + Power
  • The flashing process should begin automatically

2 3

Let the device reboot, and you're finished. Congrats, you're now running Android 4.0!

    Ermm sense 3.6....

    • sgtguthrie

Anything that shipped with gingerbread will get 3.6, and anything shipping with ics will get 4.0. It's stupid to not put them all on the same version... It would make their lives easier for updating purposes one would think :-\

      • dweeber

This might be because new hardware is needed to do some of the new Sense 4.0 things. The One ... has an HTC Sense Chip in it to do some of the new sense camera stuff for example.

        • http://rafaelisatard.com Bafael

This might because you're wrong. The chip can be disabled in the OS. They could easily comment it out. As it stands, they build ICS and Sense per headset. Each build could omit any references to One hardware, just as they are able to do with hardcoded buttons versus on screen. It's a cop out.

    • Tony

It is sad, but you do have to remember that Sense 4.0 isn't out yet on ANY phone since that debuts with the One series, though I wouldn't place bets that after the One is released that they update it to the new Sense...but hey never kno

      • Chris

There's a Sense 4.0 port on the Desire Z based on the One V RUU and it is the fastest rom I have ever had on my phone.

    • http://rafaelisatard.com Bafael

      ermmm you are a retard

  • wyngo

Haven't rooted yet, but the more I see and hear about Sense 3.6, the more I'm looking forward to CM9.

  • Matt

Thank you for this lovely leak! I have been waited with bated breath for ICS on the Rezound without rooting!

  • Zachary

I guess Sense 4.0 is reserved for the One series. That it actually really stupid and I'm glad I got the Nexus instead.

    • EfferGee

      enjoy your ugly "beautiful" widgets.

  • Ice

Since it isn't the official version would i be able to update to the official version when it's released?

    • Mike Smith

Yes since you were never rooted to begin with. This is sorta like Beta software from HTC and Verizon. It is official but may have a few bugs. So far I have found none.

      • Ice

Awesome :) thank you do i put it in the memory card or the internal storage? also do the cameras work?

        • Mike Smith

Memory card always after naming it. It was simple once you get to the hboot screen. The cameras work fine. I was worried about that as well. For some reason though, Hulu plus is not showing in the market and I was able to use it before the update. Netflix works though

  • Jason

    /sigh

Happy for Rezound owners, but come on HTC..."leak" a build for the Thunderbolt already so we can get a working RIL. Quit treating the original LTE flagship like a red headed stepchild!

  • John

Hulu plus is not compatible with ICS yet, along with other streaming apps like, HBO go, Max Go etc...

    • Mike Smith

Thanks for the info. Was wondering why it magically disappeared.

      • Ice

thank you one more question though do i have to unlock the bootloader in order to install ics?

    • PapaDew

the Nexus sis supported, why would this not be supported?

  • Andrew

I loaded PH98IMG.zip onto my SD card root, rebooted to HBOOT, it found the image, loaded it, checked it then asked if I wanted to update (VOL+/YES VOL-/NO). I selected yes and it updated random selections of the 18 or 19 items listed on the screen, then it rebooted. But I'm still at GingerBread. No root or unlocked boot loader. Fully stock. What's haywire?

    • Ice

same here and i lost 4g

      • Ice

also i have no storage :(

  • Ice

how long does it stay on the htc screen when first turning it on?

  • TW

Does installing this leak wipe all data?

  • Matt

I'm having the worst time trying to get the image to be recognized. It says it isn't there.

  • Kruback

Make sure when you are renaming the file, you get it right. Sometimes it will be named PH98IMG.zip.zip in windows. Downloading now and can't wait to get it on my phone.

    • Matt

yup, that is what happened to me!

  • Matt

Ok, got the image recognized, it went through the hboot part, updated a few things and now it is on the HTC screen (htc logo in green, white background) and has been sitting there for a while. How long should that screen last?

  • SF Guest

“flash in recovery - will require the stock build if you want the new radios, too”...
I’m unlocked and rooted with no changes to the stock image..
When I click the link for the pre-rooted version it says: Since I cannot include radios, they are not here. You must get them from AndroidPolice with a link back to this page.
Since I’m running the base image will I get the new radios or not?

  • youshouldknow

So I followed all steps once it restarted and got to the main screen nothing changed everything is the same, so i went into setting and the firmware still says 3.4 so I I'm still on gingerbread.. any idea why it didn't work for me? btw people that are wondering how long it takes to tenor and sees the htc logo the wait time is between 25 to 35min wait

  • Joe

    Will this wipe data?

    • youshouldknow

      Yes it will I assume..

  • Mitch

Does anyone know if this does a full wipe of application data? I'm not rooted so I can't use Titanium Backup...

    Thanks,

  • shermberry

this image will not be recognized, and i do not know why....

  • Andrew

YES! Performing this update with the leaked file WILL restore your phone BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULTS!! Please make sure any important data is backed up before performing update.

Also, I had the issue where I did the update the first time, it rebooted on its own and it just took me right back to GingerBread. If this happens, power off your phone and reboot into stock recovery and begin the process again. The 2nd time worked for me. Also, at least on mine, it does not reboot automatically. It says Update Complete; press PWR to reboot.

    Hope this helps someone.

    • Mitch

Thanks Andrew this is helpful - I thought that might be the case!

      • Ben

Had to do the samething first time it randomly updated the list. Then went into a bootloop. Pulled battery reperformed update and worked

    • eddie lino

Anyone know about this issue and how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't feel like returning my phone

  • bboudin

It finds the image and loads but doesnt reboot just goes back to bootloader main menu. So I reboot and still have Gingerbread and suggestions?

    • Andrew

Does it ask if you want to perform the update by using the Volume Up/Dwn keys for yes or no?

      • bboudin

No it finds the image and brings up a loading bar on the right then goes back to bootloader menu

        • Andrew

After it says Loading... and the progress bar on the right it should say Checking... with another progress bar. Yours doesn't do this? Have you disabled FastBoot on your phone?

        • bboudin

Yes and just checked and fastboot is disabled

  • shermberry

mine tries to flash the image once in bootloader, but it keeps saying image not found in green text after every file it tries to load. something is messed up

    • Andrew

Sounds like the .zip file is not in the right location or is not named correctly, such as PH98IMG.zip.zip

  • Sim

Hi I just got my rezound but I haven't unlocked the bootloader or anything. Can i still put this update on??

When I hold down "Volume Down" + Power it boots normally everytime. What am i missing here?

    • youshouldknow

I had the same problem but I looked it up and found solution you have to press the volume down key and press the power button.

      • sim

Doesn't work... Keeps booting like normal wat am I doin wrong?

        • Ben

Pull the battery then hold power and volume down until bootloader screen comes up

        • sanders539

I have to leave my back cover off for it go into the bootloader. I guess the buttons don't stay depressed like they should with the cover on.

  • apophis9283

My radio info is the same on a gb build as it is in the pictures you posted.....

  • apophis9283

you also may need to relock your bootloader to flash it

  • shermberry

why can it not find an image in the file?

    • youshouldknow

Okay when you rename the file just name it PH98IMG after that put it on your ad card. than hold volume down key and power button from there it should read it.

  • amidoinitrite

I don't know but I'm having the same issue

  • shermberry

    this is frustrating

  • PapaDew

If this does not work, how do we flash back to gingerbread?

  • Jdtigg

For those who are having an issue updating, when it seems that it randomly chooses what files it says "updating" and it will reboot and nothing changes....re-do the steps and it will work. I am currently updating after this has happened to me.

    • PapaDew

I agree! I was having the same issue and when I redid the steps, all is good.

  • shermberry

image not found by bootloader and definitely renamed the file properly. what folder should this file be put into?

    • PapaDew

Put it on your SD Card. Do not put it in any folders.

  • Kevin

Got it up and running and liking it so far... Had a small issues somehow the file ended up with zip.zip, removed that and it installed smooth. I do hate the sense dialer with the recent calls on top.. I was hoping for the nexus dialer.

  • Silva

Same issue with the 4G here... Suggestions please...

  • Silva

Actually. I'm. Having issues with reception all together...

  • Kevin

Make sure you have it set for cmda and lte for 4g issue

  • Joe

A couple people claim that this version is missing Beats compatibility. True or false? Also, has anyone else discovered any incompatibilities that are not mentioned in this thread? It probably probably won't be long before an official RELEASE. P.S. I had a hell of a time typing this from my Rezound because the virtual keyboard is trash.

    • PapaDew

Beats is indeed working. I am new at android, but so far 4g works, calls sound good, face detection works like a charm. I don't see any issues. I am just trying to figure out how to get the multi-tasking to work that I have been reading about.

      • sim

how do u get face unlock working??

  • Kevin

just tested and beats works, but only with the sense music player.. I use power amp and swiftype I don't care for sense ui.

  • Kevin

No bugs yet other than iI can't remember how to make a bookmark with ics

  • Kevin

Bookmark is either add to or hold down the back button... Duh

  • Kevin

    multitask hold home button papa

    • PapaDew

      NICE!!! Thank you.

  • uToTMeH8

Flashed this and is running like a dream. Battery life is ridiculous, reception better than ever, and even get 4G in areas I didn't before. Just remember you have to flash this twice to update everything. AmonRa 3.14 also can't mount internal storage. Only downfall I've noticed so far!

  • Michael

anyone else getting terrible bettery life with this? I went from 14hrs down to 6 or7 ..usually my phone in 3g would last me all day but this is awful

    • PapaDew

I have noticed some drop, but not what you are talking about

    • Andrew

I've been getting better battery life than what I had with GB.

      • PapaDew

Battery life has right out sucked since updating. Sent four text messages one two minute call in 8 hours and i was down to 30%

    • shannon

I will list my problems after updating.
      1. Horrendous battery life.
      2. Apps randomly close ( mostly web browser)
      3. Words with friends is nearly unplayable, major lag after you close an ad.
      4. Everytime you reboot the phone it asks for you to set your current time.
      5. Face unlock rarely works.

I wish I could go back to GB. This update did more wrong than right. I wish it were not the case because I really like the added features for ICS.

  • shermberry

this does not work on my rezound. its on the root of my SD and properly renamed... keeps saying no image found after it tries a bunch of files with different extensions all called PH98IMG

    • rjh20136

      Seeing the same behavior.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/THEPLAN_MAN C-weezy

Download it from mirror 3 download the other 2 mirriors did not download fully. Also if have multiple zip files named the same it will not work! hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • eddie lino

Ok this is what happened to my rezound. I followed the steps rename the .zip file. Install it in the sd card root. Power offmy cell, then took out the battery , then hold down power button.
Nothing was happening at first, it would go into bootloader mode or whatever its called. Nothing was happening because some green writing was going on something about image not found and so on. Then I decided to put the file in the phone storage and that's when dookie hit the fan. My phone did some magic mumbo jumbo and.it was on the green and white htc screen. Now my phone restarted and.it was still on gingerbread and to top it off it says right away that sd card is safe to be removed. Wtf. Now it won't even read my memory card and whenever I power it off and restart it in bootloader mode it automatically starts load ing the same file. Pleaseeeeeee help me I at least want my phone back to stock. I also did a factory reset and.still the same

    • Andy S

That's literally what happen to me what I ended up doing was a factory reset and installing the .zip file right after when it finished the sd card was working again and I had ice cream update on my phone try that and let me what happens.

  • User

Every time ive tried doing this, i put the PH98IMG.zip on the root of the file manager. But when i reboot to bootloader, it doesnt read/see it (ive tried it with a relocked bootloader and an unlocked bootloader) any idea on whats wrong?

  • PapaDew

Those of you having issues, make sure you have fast boot unchecked.

    • User

What do u mean by that? And how do u see if its unchecked?

    • User

Oh nevermind i was thinking about the wrong thing

  • Leroy

tarn, lucky for HTC Rezound owners, will this work with the HTC Thounderbolt.

  • KenS

I'm having the same issue as a few others here. Downloaded the file, checked the MD5 (it matched). Moved the file to the SD Card root. Renamed it "PH98IMG.zip" (without quotes of course), confirmed the file name was correct (no additional .zip extension). Powered down the phone, restarted to the bootloader...

It then tries to recognize the image but says "no image." Then nothing.

Tried restarting, battery pulls, etc. Still says "no image" when it tries to run the flashing process.

I've confirmed that fast boot is NOT checked. Tried moving the file with USB debugging turned on and off. Same results every time.

    No joy.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

    Thanks! :)

    • KenS

Also, at RapidShare it says the file should be 639.51 MB but when it finally downloads it's looking like it at 609 MB (639,512,576 bytes). I'm assuming RapidShare is wrong and is making the calculation from bytes to megabytes incorrectly.

      • Kevin

Ken it sounds like you had the same issue I did. I used astro file manager running in gb to go into the sd card and check details on the file and saw it had the zip.zip..

        • KenS

Hi Kevin, that's what I did too -- it's actually how you can check the MD5 as well. The filename is correct, no .zip.zip.

          I'm stumped. :(

      • kyle

        Same problem, cantfind the image...

        • Kevin

Make sure it in a root directory.. Should see it as an image

    • Iliyamass

when you copy to phone put the file in the folder external_sd then reboot into recovery first time through it will only install a few items and boot into gb go into recovery again this time it takes longer and boots into ics the file has to be in external_sd folder to work on my rez

  • Ice

    finally got it working :)

    • KenS

Ice, what did you do differently that got it working?

      • Ice

I just repeated the steps again and it finally went through

  • shermberry

this crap still does nothing for me.

it finds the .zip file, checks it, then just goes back to the bootloader home screen. no error prompt...nothing... never flashed ICS. what the heck is going on here.

  • dc TGN

so if your unlocked you flash the pre rooted version first then flash the stock after? both done in amon recovery? also do I have to relock the bootloader first? help, I want ics

  • Callen

I had to run it about 5 times to get the image to show up. Just keep doing it and it'll load. I really like ICS not digging sense 3.6 though. The face regog is pretty cool!

  • Kevin

Eddie not sure if this will work but delete the img file you put on your sd and the reboot your phone and do a factory reset... Guys if it's not finding the image delete it and start over make sure to grab the preroot if your not rooted.. I used my computer to copy the file to my phones sd (I used a card adapter). I made sure fast boot was off.. I rebooted holding power an vol down... It found the file and did a bunch of updates that would say updating then change to ok.. I haven't tried putting gb back on it yet but seems like if you just delete the img and do a factory wipe it should restore it back to gb.

  • Kevin

Edit above don't grab preroot grab the other if not rooted sorry

  • Kevin

Battery life seems about the same maybe a tad heavier since updating... If you see a huge drop in battery life after updating check your apps.. Not all apps are ics compatible and will such down your battery like a vampire... Anything force closing or running goofy umstall it and recheck your battery life.

  • Kevin

One big thing I noticed after the update was 250 mb of free ram, about 100 meg difference from gb. Sense still has that heavy feel. I bet it takes up alot of it.

  • shermnug

Download image.... Renamed.... Put in main sdcard folder and reboot phone with vol down and power. I enter the white screen with three teen androids on the bottom and it automatically starts checking files with the name of ph98diag and IMG etc... All show up as no image found. Then it looks at ph98img.zip... It says image found and it starts loading and checking the file with progress bar to the right. After it is done checking it does nothing but return to the main screen of the bootloader. No effect. What the heck.

  • rjh20136

Well, I've download, and installed on the sd card in the top directory but still sees unrecognized images on the card. Fastboot (in Power under setting) has been disabled.

Bootloader says it doesn't see appropriate images in the PH98IMG.zip file.

  • rjh20136

I seem to be getting somewhere. Using Windows command prompt, copied the downloaded file onto the sd card then renamed it (avoiding all of Windows help).

HBOOT has progress bar (vertical) on right now and is now looking at the image files.

First couple of img files ignored. Now checking the zip file.... About 3 minutes in...

  • rjh20136

Prompted to start update --- volume up!

  • rjh20136

Appears to update hboot - htc screen - flash - htc screen - booting. No upgrade. Back to bootloader - new info. Looking like the phone is not unzipping 18 different files!and updating! :)

  • rjh20136

IS updating / unzipping 18 different files.

  • rjh20136

    [1] BOOT - OK
    [2] SBL1 - OK
    [3] RECOVERY - OK
    [4] SBL2 - OK
    [5] USERDATA - OK
    [6] SPLASH - OK
[7] SYSTEM - UPDATING / UNZIPPING / UPDATING -OK (TOOK AWHILE)
NEXT 11 STEPS FASTER THAN i COULD WATCH AND TYPE - PRESS POWER TO REBOOT

  • Jason B

Reboot in recovery x2, got ok on everything. Reboot into the new ROM and couldn't turn on the radio... any ideas anyone?

  • nuggly

why is this only working for some people and not for others? is this a joke?

  • Chris

So I got the update to start. Then it said update failed and wanted to reboot. I said ok and now my phone is 100% dead

  • Elig

Okay so I have updated it and I'm liking it, so now on my SD card, should I delete the PH98IMG file? Or am I suppose to keep it?

  • Kevin

i wonder if one of the links for downloads bad?

  • Elig

So I redownloaded some apps, and I can't store it on my SD Card? Am I missing something? Or to option to "Move to Phone Storage" isn't avaialbe on apps?

  • REC

Downloaded as directed. Took 2 attempts before it all loaded. Here's what I've noticed. Like Elig, I don't seem to have the option to move apps to my SD card. Also, the ringer and notification volumes are linked now. Even with Sound Manager, I can't find an option to unlink them so I can keep my notifications silent while my ringer stays on. I have to go into each app to do it individually. Lastly, I can't find a way to change the shortcuts on the lock screen. They were populated automatically. Any ideas?

    • REC

Looking at the lockscreen, the shortcuts are the same apps I've chosen as shortcuts on my homescreen. No way to choose different apps for the lockscreen shortcuts that I can see. Too bad.

  • P Dolo

Flashed it twice as u were supposed to...works great :)

  • KenS

Screw this. Can't get it to work no matter how many times I try. Either the file is corrupt or the instructions aren't complete.

I've been rooting and modifying my Android phones since Android hit the market. I've never had this many issues trying to get an image to flash.

The author of the blog hasn't even taken the time to add anything to the discussion.

    Waste of time.

  • Kevin

Move to sd is under storage, make more room, clear the cache then you get the option

  • sangrechiva88

i have tried this atleast three times now, i reformated my phone, i changed the sd card and formated it as well, then i downloaded this from the website, transfered it to my sd and began the process, and nothing happened, is there anything that i missed... thanks in advanced.

    • sangrechiva88

i read in one of the comments that i had to use the pre-root if my phone wasnt rooted, is this true or which one do i use, i downloaded the one that says, AP Mirror #3, can someone clarify this and the first question ^ i had left... thanks again...

      • sangrechiva88

after a little reading, i tried it, and it seemed to work, in the end i ended up back to the same sense i had, no only this time all i get is, SD SAFE TO REMOVE, it wont accept my sd for some odd reason... ill wait for a reply on more steps or options... thanks

      • KenS

It's exactly the opposite. If you are already rooted you use the "pre-root" version. If you have a stock phone you use the first 3 mirrors.

  • sangrechiva88

this is the shit, i finaly got it through, thanks a lot for the leak... i will mess with it today and reply with any malfunctions and any new things i find. thanks once more..

    • KenS

What did you do differently? I'm still having problems. Still saying "no image available" or whatever.

  • rjh20136

Have not been able to Bluetooth pair the phone with my Honda Civic.... Otherwise, no issues.

  • Kevin

bluetooth working ok in my Prius, took awhile to pair

  • Phillip

If already rooted, and I flash the stock RUU I know i will loose root, but can i re-root it once everything is up and running?

  • Kevin

Anyone else still getting the 3g/4g icon while on wifi? Everything seems to work ok.

  • Eric

im getting the 3g 4g icio\on too while on wifi

  • Rjh20136

Not getting the 3g or 4g icon if mobile network is disabled.

Battery usage seems high, but I have to adjust frequency of updates to the various apps.

    Developer tools are cool.

  • Kevin

Thanks guys, I will make a mobile net button when I am on wifi... Yea just started playing with the developer tools.. Evil Grin

  • PapaDew

I have had this for a couple of days now. Thus far my only complaint is the battery life. Today in an 8 hour period, I sent 4 text messages and two 2 min phone calls. At the 8 hour mark, I had 30% left. Something is draining the battery fast. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Kevin

I been on It heavy with the extended battery got 6 hours.. Been watching video and uploading. Check your battery chart and usage see if something updating in the background

  • sangrechiva88

after playing with it, i came to also notice that it does eat the battery like crazy. i was able to download all kinds of apps with gb and still have battery left over to play watch videos and navigate the web, i unpluged my phone at 230 to go to work, it is now 847 and the battery is red, before it would last me all my shift, and some plus time at home... damn... great views though and i actualy like it more than what i had before...

    • PapaDew

Lets hope the final version is not like this. If i cant deal with this, how do I flash back? Oh yeah phone is getting hot typing this

      • sangrechiva88

ive noticed this also, it heats up like crazy, like if it was over running. is this normal or not. can some one answer that.

  • Shawn

For the folks out there that cant find image i used astro file manager and went to the image file and it had .zip.zip try this and rename it in astro worked finally for me

  • sangrechiva88

is it normal that when i set my lock wallpaper different than my home wallpaper, they both come up the same... is this a glitch?

    • Clay Brown

I was getting this too, didnt solve it per se, just changed the lock screen theme to something different

  • bellken

Battery does seem to be draining faster.
Some cosmetic stuff, I have noticed, is that long application names are not displayed properly, such as

    Weatherbu Dolphin
b Browser H , where only half of the H is shown.

The Clock lockscreen - spin cycle, also, displays Month, and, the 1st digit of the day, i.e. March 20 is displayed as Mar 2.

  • Kyle Miller

I had the hardest time trying to get the image to be found... I finally downloaded it to my computer, put the card in my computer, changed the name, and moved it to the sd card, and voila, worked perfectly!

  • Kevin

Right now I am at 51 percent battery life at 12 hours use with no charging, light use, the extended battery of course.. Used auto brightness, bluetooth in the car for 2 hours light calls.

  • Rjh20136

Have been able to extend battery life by adjusting update schedules and turn off LTE. Cdma only.

  • Kevin

Not all apps work with ics.. They will destroy your battery! Read the reviews for ics issues.

  • rjh20136

Other interesting behavior: I do not have the 802.11 wireless radio "on", but the phone "detects" wireless networks being available.... Or perhaps it remembers on a location basis?

    • bellken

there is an option to never auto turn on Wi-Fi in the Advance Wi-Fi settings. It is not enabled by default, so, you need to enable it, otherwise, your wifi will auto turn on every time you launch an app.

I kept wondering why my wifi was enabled, when, I thought I had turned it off, too.

      • rjh20136

Settings - WiFi - settings button, advanced:

        Notify me - NOT checked,
Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep - set to never
Never auto turn on Wi-Fi - checked

And still the Wi-Fi enables itself....

  • Andy

I've tried every setting I can find, but I still can't turn off vibrate for the keyboard.

    • bellken

      Settings-Sound

      scroll down, uncheck Vibrate feedback

      • Andy

I tried that one first. Doesn't work.

        • Roshanjain123

It doesn't work for me as well.. very sad..any ideas ?

  • Andy

After a few hours I've learned why it hasn't been released yet. How do I go back to my old but functional factory version? My wife has one from which I could copy if I need to.

  • sangrechiva88

i have had this for a few days now and i like it, the only con is that even when the phone is idled without being touched for hours, it heats up, today i charged my batery all day, i got to work with 98%, i played two levels of angry birds and all of a sudden my battery is at 5%... this is a nice upgrade but it has to go, how do i get it of my phone, ive done all resets and nothing has worked...

  • Rjh20136

Have witnessed reboots and then preps 15 applications for Android upgrade.

Also wants me to set current time even though location services are enabled and phone knows to use the provider's service.

  • Andy

Anyone know how to fix these:
    1. Keypad always vibrates, regardless of settings.
    2. Can't make notifications silent (old version could set notification volume separately from ringtone), even with blank mp3 in notifications folder.
    3. Many app issues. Built-in browser, Words with friends, My Verizon Mobile can't log in.

  • kyle

ive done everything to get this update working and still wont load up does not even ask me or try to load the file i downloaded. confused and mad please help put the file in the root of sd card and reboot in fastboot and still wont work repeated the steps like six times and still no go

    • bellken

I had the update on what I thought was my sd card, but, you need to put the update on your removeable sdcard. Astro shows it as /sdcard2.

But, beyond that, I would hold off on the update, until the battery sucking issues were resolved.

  • rjh20136

Battery life truly sucks. Pulled off the charger at 0500 this morning and at 49% with minimal use - no calls, no texting, one reminder.

    Something not quite right.

Wondering if there is logging / code running in background... 4G disabled, WiFi disabled (finally) - although battery says 7% WiFi usage...

  • Andy

Can anybody change the notification sound? My plays the default no matter what I choose.

  • Elig

One problem I have found is that when I charge it, the next morning its very hot!
But then after I take it out of the charger and its at 100% battery full after a few minutes it goes back to normal.
    Anybody else experiencing this?
    Is this bad?

  • edgar

does anyone know how to reset it back to its original gb status... im tored of the dead battery all the time, the heating up, some apps that i paid for are not recognized... can anyone help me with this.

  • seeingdouble

I just discovered that on my phone i have two folders labeled 'sdcard'. One is 'sdcard' and one is 'sdcard2'. I tried loading the .zip in the 'sdcard' folder and had issues when booting, but after downloading astro i discovered the two directories. I loaded the .zip into the 'sdcard2' folder and rebooted and it appears to be loading successfully now.

  • Steve

READ THIS IF YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS!!!! If you are loading it off your computer, right click on the file and pull up the proprieties. Look at the details, mine said that it's name was PH98IMG.zip.zip but it showed correct on the SD directory. I deleted the .zip from the name and now its loading!!!!! F-ing windows, I should have got a mac. Come to think of it...I should have gotten an i-phone!

  • Flaco

OMG I did what everybody did said after reading the whole post. i held down the power and volume down. it read the file, said something oubout parimeter or sector not right phone shut off and now will do nothing??? Am i stuck with a BRICK??

    • bellken

I had to run the upgrade process twice, too. It is normal.

  • TBolt

I'm not installing it, but a big THANK YOU to AP for posting stuff like this. :)

  • Brent

What happened to the pre-rooted version?
    Not available anymore? :(

  • Surf2Salsa

I've been running this for 3 days now. I also had the install problems mentioned above, on the second try it worked. 1st 2 days battery life was horrible, I installed Juice Defender, AutoRun manager & Advanced Task Killer and now battery life ROCKS!, don't know which of these apps has helped the most yet. Seems pretty stable so far. We'll see.

  • C1rca310

This is one of the best/worst leaks I've encountered. best because everythingworks and worst because battery drains like crazy while the screens off in standby mode. in 5 mins it drained 4% . I have data off and sync off and its still drains battery. when I check what's being used it says screen. what makes it worst also is phone is constantly warm while in my pocket. when I had gingerbread battery lasted all day unless being used. I hope the official ics isn't nothing like the leak. crossin my fingers and toes lmao

  • bellken

I have been running the leaked version for a while, and, I just noticed my PRI Version is 1.16_002,2.07_002, and, my Baseband version is 1.22.10.0310r,1.22.10.0308r, which, is different from the posted images.

  • Sangrechiva88

does any once know how to return this to gingerbread... im kinda tired of this new update... can anyone help with that... thank you...

  • Aamir

Will this work on my HTC sensation XL (version 2.3.5). I want to update to ICS 4.0.3.
