The official press release said "This sale will begin Friday at 12PM EST," but they actually meant 12 PM CST.

In celebration of their success, the developers are dropping the price for 48 hours (from Friday at 12PM CST to Sunday at 12PM CST), from $4.99 to $2.49 - and they "might drop that to $1.99 if [they] get enough people excited for this sale." What are you waiting for? Make the jump and at least give the trial a go. Update: they dropped it to $1.99.

(Note: our widget pulls prices from AppBrain, which is slow to update. The Market reflects the proper price.)

Best Music Player EVER, recent updates have crippled it a tad bit, but dev is always quick to make fixes available, and is always taking input at the PowerAMP forums.

  • Hal Motley

Would be cooler if it played .xm files!

    • Steve

Wow, I thought I was the only one that listed to tracked music these days.

In fact, I am listening to one right now with Winamp! Actually, its an s3m, but close enough. :-)

    • Deltaechoe

XMP for android works albeit a bit inaccurately if the song writer did some odd things with his or her tracker (usually when a lot of phasing is present). But it's what I use on my phone when I've been writing using impulse tracker or fast tracker 2 (dos box rocks btw)

Who would buy this for $2.49 if they know that it will eventually drop to $1.99?

    BTW, great player!

    • Abhishek

If u know the worth of Poweramp u will just go ahead and buy it for full price. Like i did. It was my first purchase couple of years back. If u getting it for 2.49$ its a steal....people will go for it...its that good.
      :)

  • Steve

Just got it for $1.99. It said $4.99 on the main page, but when going to purchase, it showed the $1.99 price. :D

    • Aaron Gingrich

      Thanks, updated :)

  • DroidScorpio

Thanks for the headsup. Just bought mine at $1.99. It's a bargain :D

  • Sam

Seems like a great app but I have stopped playing music from SD card since Google music/Amazon cloud started last year.

    • duplissi

sound quality makes all the difference in the world, and that plus the control thereof is what really sets poweramp apart.

i have both amazon and g music but i still use poweramp.

  • John R

Currently at $1.99 in the Market!

  • Tim R

Wow, what a great app. After tweaking abit, music just explodes out of my Etymotic Research in ears....thanks for the heads up. Got it for 1.99 too. Awesome

  • Jim M.

Tried the trial version for a couple minutes and was sold! I've gotten lots of free apps but this is probably only the 2nd one I've paid for. BTW, the price is currently $1.99 so grab it now.

  • http://www.cricketusers.com Keri

I tried the trial version and I wasn't that hyped up about it. I even forgot what poweramp was. Buuuut I think I'm gonna start using more. Thanks for posting.

  • Praveen

I was very eagerly looking for this in the market sale, but that didnt happen. I would have got it for the full price if it had good tablet support and I was waiting for an HD version.

But at this price it is a great deal. Got it from the market and I am very happee :)

Its alrite sayin how good ur app is...u need 2 read ur feedback cause i cant access my Poweramp MP3 plyer,it cums up sayin sumat about a license ? Wen i ever i try 2 uve it it sends me 2 the andrò marketplace & supposedly if i want 2 uve it ive got 2 but it again....ive already paid £3:50p or ever how much,im not payin twice,NO CHANCE !!!

    • Tim R

Could you put that in english please??

    • Cory

      Wanna repeat that??

  • Mikey H

This player is great apart from the one thing I use a lot - 'shoutcast' - Poweramp has a nicer interface and is considerably more customisable that Winamp but it look like I'm going to have to keep Winamp installed to use that one feature. Got this for £1.26, which to date is the most I've paid for an app in two years of droid ownership! but I love a bargain

keep up the good work guys :D

  • CarlosTheMayor

This app isn't worth $1.99 - They need to lower it to $.99 then I'd consider it.

Meh, looks like I'll just be waiting for the ICS crack.

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

$2 measly dollars is too much for Mr. CarlosTheMayor?

    • duplissi

its pretty much the best music player on ANY portable device, and yes that includes dedicated pmps.....

      so.... yeah.

  • CarlosTheMayor

Yes for something that plays music?

    • Sam

      trolololololololololololololo

    • BeatBlaster

"for something that plays music?" How old are you? Read the list of features and realize that the devs' time on this is worth way more than the measly $5 they ask for normally. Trolls will troll.

      • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com Cody Toombs

It's not his fault, he sees $1.99 as about right for a full office suit that can also flash custom roms, track al-qaeda globally and play PS3 games at full framerate. Don't you feel silly you're spending the same money for something that plays music?

        • BeatBlaster

          You're awesome :)

  • Idle Time

It's a beautiful music app, but it doesn't play nice with my evo 4G for some reasons, especially with my Skull Candy headsets buttons. It won't pause, move forward... Winamp Pro (which I also bought during their holidays sale) performs all that Poweramp does and plays nicely with my phone. Wish its skin is as beautiful though.

Ever since moving my music to the cloud with Google Music I could never go back to using an app like this.

If Google released an API or if Poweramp offered their own cloud option I would definitely give this app a go.

    • Sam

So why not buy it now? I bought it hoping Google will release API or Power amp will use unofficial API.

    • Freak4Dell

I haven't used this even once since Google Music let me in on the beta, but I just bought it in hopes that an API will be used at some point. Whether it's an official or unofficial API, I don't care, but if they implement that, I will start using PowerAmp again.

  • Adam

If any of the PowerAmp guys happen to look at this: I bought the app full price and loved it for so long. One of the last few updates somehow screwed it up (for me and my Sensation) and the sound quality went from pure sex to poop :(

  • paxmos

I want my $3 back then...Actually, if you consider the currency conversion, I paid more than $4.99.....ITS MY MONEY AND I WANT IT NOW...

  • http://www.androidpolice.com kikikoko

Thanks for the info androidpolice, I went and buy my copy. you save me money. Yeah!!, Arriba!!, Bravo!!.

  • xnifex

Installed the trial, played an album that needs gapless playback & it worked perfectly, purchased!

  • http://codytoombs.wordpress.com Cody Toombs

I gotta admit, I have never used the app before, didn't even install the trial before buying the unlocker (yes, I understood how it worked before I downloaded)...Just based on all of the glowing comments I gave it a shot. I am kinda disappointed I didn't get it sooner. Poweramp blew away my expectations. So much better than I thought it would be, even after all of the love people are giving it.

  • http://riteshtripathy.wordpress.com Ritesh

I've never needed, wanted or liked any other player ever. Features and sound, noting beats this. There are other players that look better or have "cool" little features, but as a whole, this is just the best. 15 months and counting...

    • duplissi

      exactly how i feel.

      16 months and counting.

  • rxgadget

Well tried to get in on the sale but must have expired too soon for me yesterday :(

  • seriosbrad

I bought it at full price on their site a while ago, gonna buy it again from the Market for convenience.

    • seriosbrad

Nevermind, looks like the price is back at $4.93
