Those of us who grew up in the 90s undoubtedly remember Another World (Out of This World in North America), a mysterious cinematic platformer created by Eric Chahi. I have forgotten all about it, but after hearing the name and seeing a single screenshot this morning, immediately flashed back to the days I spent playing it as a kid. No other game at the time but Dune instilled such suspense in me, and seeing news of the 20th Anniversary Edition coming to Android was the perfect way to start the day.

Update: Another World will come out on Android on March 16th!

In this version, you will find the following features:

• The ability to switch between Original/HD graphics by using 2 fingers at any time
• New intuitive touch-based controls or classic D-pad.
• 3 difficulty modes: Normal, Hard and Hardcore.
• 100% remastered sounds and effects.
• OpenFeint support with more than 10 achievements
• Compatible with Zeemote joystick, connected via Bluetooth.
• Game available in 5 languages (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish).

Re-created by DotEmu, Another World 20th Anniversary Edition has been out on iOS for a few months, and is now finally coming to Android "in a few months." We'll get access to HD graphics, remastered music and sound effects, a new touch-based control mode, 3 difficulty modes, and achievements powered by OpenFeint.

Unfortunately, that is all the information that was released today, so in the meantime all we can do is enjoy this gameplay video of the iOS version, counting down the days. The light passing through the elevator doors and dimming as you go up, the mysterious beast, disgusting black worms (shrug), and the rest of the alien planet are all there:

Who cares? You can just say No to the first OpenFeint popup and it should never bother you again.

Nooo, why does it have an original and hd graphics, but no original sound, only remastered. Original sound and music is the thing I love the most in this game. Man, that intro was awesome. But with changed sound it's not the same. Details matter.
