Just 9 days ago, Asus rolled out an update for the quad-core Transfomer Prime that brought things to build 9.4.2.13. Today, a new (apparently incremental) was released that brings things up to 9.4.2.14. The only official word we have on the update is from Gary Key, Technical Marketing Manager at Asus, in an XDA thread:

.14 will be released tomorrow (US/TW, WW/DE/Others early next week) ,should solve the power problems that some users experienced after the .13 update.

Early downloaders are reporting that lower power states (such as when the device is idling) are back, which is resulting in better battery life. Apparently "1.4GHz is back" as well, though I wasn't aware it was gone to begin with. Perhaps most notably, this update breaks root!

The update was available to both Cameron and I as soon as we checked for it. To do so yourself, head to Settings -> About tablet -> System Firmware Update -> Check Update.

EVERY update so far has broke root, that's why you need to use Root Keeper!

Can you confirm that Root Keeper worked for this update as well?

Damnit ASUS, your TF101 owners are still waiting!

The last update was supposed to fix reboot issues but I didn't have that problem until I downloaded the last update. I got the new update while on the way into work this morning and everything is back to normal. My baby it's encrypted and I noticed a much needed increase in boot up speed on the encryption login.

Never got the .13 update (in Canada, on a TF201 with 64gb); not seeing the .14 update being available either. I'm guessing the .13 update was pulled for bugs, and hopefully the .14 will be making it out to everyone.

    Same here in montreal..

I was just fine with .13, but after installing .14, my tablet freezes and reboots randomly every one or two minutes. I tried a factory reset without re-installing and I still have the same issue.

I've actually noticed my battery life being drastically reduced after updating to .14 this morning. Anybody else see this?

  • Dave

Never had reboot issues with the last update, but now I do!! Install a new app, or do something random, freeze... and... reboot.

The update seems to have hit in Canada, at least in the montreal area. Reading those last few comments are a bit scary though :/
