Better late than never! Steam announced a brand new app today for Android that allows users to chat with their friends, participate in Steam's thriving online community groups, and buy games from the Steam Library. Anyone who's missed out on one of Steam's legendary sales knows how valuable the ability to watch and buy while away can be.
Update #1 1/27/12: Check out our Steam preview here.
Update #2 1/31/12: The app is now open to everyone with a Steam account!
While the app is currently in a closed beta, downloading it and attempting to sign up will submit a request for an invite if you aren't on the list already. If you're an avid Steam user, or just love Steam's sales, it might be worth a download either way.
Thanks, Adnan!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Like I need another way to buy games off of Steam! I already spent WAY too much on games this mast holiday season. $5 there. $10 there. $19 there. x_x
What is the practical use for such an application? I wish this allowed us to play games like with OnLive.
Chatting, buying games, doing reviews, etc. Steam is more then just a content delivery system.
Sadly, this is a horrible iOS port
How? All media we have of the Android app is that it is not a 'horrible iOS port'.
Horrible iOS port is what the CoD:ELITE app was.
None of the Android design guidelines were followed.
The buttons are rounded and look like iOS figures, the menu button does not follow the guideline (added as 3 dots for ICS, hidden for 2.3 and below), etc.
If you look at "Steam for Android," it is an example of an app that did a fine job making Steam ready for Android (in terms of design).
Android has design guidelines? Do they suck? Looking like an iOS app is probably a good thing.
This coming from a major Android fan and Apple hater.
@Telanis
Yes it does.

meh ... Staticon FTW: https://market.android.com/details?id=mmedia.Staticon
It will be interesting to see if Steam would becoming a content provider for app developers as well. If anyone can produce a quality list of software choices, it would be Steam.
Getting access to daily deals is all I need from this.
