Looks like the Now Network is in the process of pushing OTA updates to three devices: the HTC EVO 4G, EVO Design 4G, and Samsung Epic 4G. The changelog for each device is as follows:

  • Security Update
  • Updated Peep client ( to align with Twitter)
  • Battery life improvements

HTC EVO Design 4G

  • Security Update
  • Updated Peep client (to align with Twitter)
  • Updated Sprint Zone client
  • Battery life improvements
  • 3LM Enterprise Tool Access (no user interface changes)

Samsung Epic 4G

  • Security update
  • Speaker feedback fix
  • The QIK and Asphalt 5 applications are no longer preloaded. When opening the applications using the application icon, you will be redirected to the Android market to download and install the full application.

If you notice, the very first 'fix' on each device is "Security Update." We'd be willing to wager that's the Carrier IQ removal that was mentioned by HTC a few days ago, and it looks like Samsung may be getting in on the CIQ-removal action now, too.

The EVO 4G and Design 4G should both see better battery life post-update, with the latter also getting a serving of freshly updated bloatware. On the contrary, the Epic seems to be getting a bloatware removal-treatment, as Qik and Asphalt are no longer pre-loaded.

The update for the Epic is rolling out now and should be finished up within ten days, but if you want the OTA on either HTC device you'll have to pull it manually (Settings > System update > HTC software update) as it won't officially begin rolling out until 1/24.

[Sprint 1, 2, 3; Thanks, James!]

Now I'll just wait for the Epic Touch. Any word on breaking root and re-rooting?

For those rooted Evo 4G users running the stock rom, do not unroot and accept this OTA update!

Revolutionary.io does not currently accept the new HBOOT. You will be without root until this is resolved.
