madfinger-games-hard-at-work-on-multiplayer-for-shadowgun-taking-suggestions-from-players

Nvidia's CES press conference featured a few people playing Shadowgun together, which was a little puzzling, because currently that's impossible. It turns out they were showing off a new version: Shadowgun: Deadzone. The cool new thing about Deadzone, if you haven't guessed by now, is multiplayer support.

Deadzone is bringing all kinds of bells and whistles to the Shadowgun series. It supports 8 player online multiplayer, gamepads, and voice chat. I think that puts it on par with full-on console gaming. You also get a few new toys to impress your friends with: there's new sprint and roll moves, and, of course, more weapons. There's also a character ranking system that will "unlock new elements" as you advance.

There are 4 different levels, 8 different characters, and "several" game modes. They specifically list "deathmatch" and "team deathmatch" as if we couldn't guess at those.

Now by now you're probably dying to play, but I've got bad news. Unless you have a Transformer Prime on preorder, you're out of luck. It will exclusively debut on Tegra 3 devices. For those rocking the absolute newest devices, you can start killing your friends (if they also have T3 devices) sometime in Q1 2012. Good luck with that.

Ron loves everything related to technology, design, and Google. He always wants to talk about "the big picture" and what's next for Android, and he's not afraid to get knee-deep in an APK for some details. Expect a good eye for detail, lots of research, and some lamenting about how something isn't designed well enough.

This kinda news makes me wanna get a tablet.... I hope developers start taking android gaming into the next level, and take advantage of the excellent hardware in most of the current Android devices in the market - multi-core CPU, high-Res screens, fast-GPU.

Could have sworn they said there was an update coming with multiplayer. By update, they meant for the current version. Not a new one.

  • Himmat

I only just downloaded ShadowGun 2 days back for my Galaxy Tab 10.1, and I must say it's awesome. Hopefully, new update (or new game) will allow for amazing multiplayer games!

I really hope it's free...I paid money just for the campaign I shouldn't have to play multiplayer
