Looking to spruce your lockscreen up a bit? The MIUI Team is bringing a new flavor to the lockscreen arena, simply called MiLocker.

MiLocker looks to compete with offerings such as WidgetLocker and GO Locker as your lockscreen replacement, and after spending just a few minutes with it, I can say that it's quite nice - enough so that it will most likely become my primary lockscreen replacement (at least for a while). There are already several nice themes to choose from, several of which either duplicate the Android 4.0 lockscreen or add additional functionality (like shortcuts to phone and messaging along with the camera and unlock features) to it.

MiLocker supports Android 2.3 devices only, and you can grab it for free from the Android Market.

I was hoping for Widgetlocker to go down to 10cents, but this may be better! I'm downloading this now.

I've bought Widgetlocker for fullprice but had to remove it because it slows the system down (Nexus S 2.3.6 stock) somehow eating RAM

Doesn't seem to let you choose a lockscreen wallpaper from your gallery - what's with that??

    • Andre

Yeah, i also got this "issue"

    • ropodope

take any wallpaper you want and place it in the /sdcard/miui/wallpaper folder and now it will show up under wallpaper selections to choose from voila!

      • Craysh

You can also set it to transparent.

  • heldros

Take a look at permisions. It could be nice to speak about that when you introduce a new app :-)

  • Kyle

Sweet. Ditched MIUI a while back but glad to see this.

  • Sam

Lot of permissions. Can anyone explain Gmail access and all?

  • Rob

It would have been nice if they had at least tried to translate this app from Chinese. It can't be that hard to find someone who knows both Mandarin (I assume?) and English and is willing to do a good job.

    • Hal Motley

Agreed, I mean I know quite a few Chinese people who are fluent in both English and Mandarin. This app needs translation!

  • PointZeroOne

I can understand if they have on lock screen wigets that require these permissions. But it is a bit suss.

I'm sure it's fine, but still....

  • Nick Coad

Note about permissions: the app has the ability to launch straight into email and so forth by dragging the unlock icon over various other icons, so I think that's where the permission requirements come from.

  • derk

    widgetlocker is still better. *sigh*

  • Ahmad Nadeem

Just as I suspected.........no lock was able to fit on my Wildifire S.....good only for high resolution devices.....

  • Donnie

Has no one tried MagicLocker yet. they have a lot of themes and the locker itself is free.

    • Andre

I tried, but it eats so much RAM...so i back to WidgetLocker

  • NFA

    not working with ICS :(

    • Duffin

He did mention in the article that it was only for 2.3 devices.

  • Seth

I just want to know what that belt buckle and zipper theme is so I can download it!

  • Brad

Anyone knows how can i have Music controls on the lock screen or change the date language to english hehe

    • ropodope

music controls pop up if you double click the clock.

      • Brad

Thanks, worked like a charm :)

  • Craysh

It's pretty, but it has fallen short.

    1. Screen size does not stretch/crop to fit

    2. No custom actions

    3. Cannot change current actions

  • Marshall

i like it so far but it does need to be translated... or i need to learn Chinese...

  • Stryker

    Gone from the market .

    • Craysh

      Still there for me...
