T-Mobile G-Slate_font angle

Owners of the LG G-Slate have been waiting a long time to get some custom ROM action on the 8.9-inch device, and now that dream may finally become a reality thanks to a quick hack that unlocks the bootloader. The process is stupid-easy - it's basically as simple as flashing a .zip file in ClockworkMod.

While there aren't any custom ROMs available for the device just yet, the first custom kernels are starting to show up on RootzWiki - a good sign indeed.

For full instructions, including all required downloads, head over to this Google Code page.

Good luck!

Thanks, Aaron!

Just in time. I received the GSlate as a hand me down from my wife for whom I bought the Galaxy 10.1. Can't wait for some ICS love from the #cyanogenmod team.

This isn't #cyanogenmod. We are looking to merge with them, but we got to get our stuff together first. :)

We have some great people on this project. Another win for G-Slate IRC! I have never seen such a great little community that can all put their heads together. The progression in the past weeks has been amazing thanks to all of the loyal developers and this community as a whole. Keep an eye out because there is more where this came from!

As an early adopter of this tablet I am happy to see some community support of this device. Hoping for the best!

Excellent! We may get past 3.1 on our devices after all.

This is was an amazing tablet with huge potential when it came out, but for some reason LG seems absolutely intent on killing it through not putting out updates and trying to lock the community out of doing it themselves. Now it at least has a chance.

Yes! Thank you! I made the mistake of buying this thing based on false information. This thread gives me hope!

The G-Slate is a hardware powerhouse. Hopefully we will see it running the updated software that it deserves soon!

I bought two G-Slates since they were the ONLY 4G tablet with they came out. I hoped this would be good so I could travel with it internationally. I should have known not to buy something that was only sold via a wireless carrier. Support seems to be much better for tablets that are sold through multiple retail outlets.
