Adobe Photoshop Touch

Next in our series of reviews centered around Adobe's Touch Apps is Photoshop Touch, a nearly perfect paring-down of its desktop counterpart. While Photoshop Touch may be a little simplified, it still has a ton of features, and packs in almost all of the things I need for on-the-go photo editing.

At A Glance

Essentially, Photoshop Touch is a more basic version of the desktop software, with Creative Cloud connectivity and Android 3.1+ compatibility thrown in. Its simplicity is not a bad thing, however. PS Touch shares the same sleek, intuitive interface style as the other members of the Touch ...

Since we first saw the Droid 4 last month, we've been waiting for more info on the phone that seems to perfect the ideas behind the Droid 3. Just yesterday, we saw official specs and a few scanned photos from a leaked Verizon document. Today, Droid Life unearthed some official press shots, showing off the Droid 4's 4" qHD display and 5-row keyboard.

In case you need a refresher, here are the Droid 4's specs:

  • 4-inch qHD display
  • 1.2Ghz dual-core processor (most likely the same one that's in the Droid RAZR)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP rear shooter
  • 5 row

For those who spend a lot of time looking at a computer, and can't be bothered to look at their phone very often, Sand Studio has introduced AirDroid, an app that allows users to control their Android Phone from a computer via WiFi.

ss-480-0-1 ss-1280-3-1

The great thing about AirDroid is that it works - it's easy to start up, and functions flawlessly (in my experience). The interface is also very polished - mimicking a desktop launcher complete with moveable icons, a task bar, and controls that allow you to do just about anything.

One of the most impressive features is ...

In a recent "Competitive Comparison" graphic, Verizon has labeled Samsung's Galaxy Nexus as having "No OEM Customization," ostensibly as a selling point against the competition.

galaxy-nexus-competition

It's interesting that Verizon would go so far in labeling the Nexus' UI as such, but it may hint that VZW is at least vaguely aware that some consumers prefer a stock experience, and consider it a strong enough selling point that it should be included in a comparison chart. It's also likely that Verizon simply wanted to accurately describe each device's UI, but I find it odd that they included "Android 4.0 Ice Cream ...

The official Race Of Champions game of unbelievable quality that Invictus has been teasing us with since October was just released in the Android Market. First organized in 1988, RoC is a real annual motorsport event "where stars from Formula One, World Rally Championship, NASCAR, sportscars and touring cars compete against each other, going head-to-head in identical cars" (per Wikipedia).

The Android version has stunning graphics and the level of detail you would regularly expect from a console game. Championship races, 4 different control schemes, highly-detailed real cars and tracks, replays, leadership boards, achievements along with excellent music ...

This is the latest in our Weekend Poll series. For last week's, see Google Music Is Here, But Will You Use It?

Inspired by both the poll on ideal phone screen size and last week's poll on which orientation you use your tablet, I'm curious to see what your ideal tablet screen size is.  So far, it seems 10" is the standard for full-fledged tablets, 7" for e-readers and "tablet-lite" devices, and there's a gamut of sizes in between (and below) for all different purposes - but which is right for you? Sound off in the poll, then head ...

Remember the upcoming HTC Ville that we heard about earlier this month? Pocketnow has snagged what seems to be an official render, and the image reveals a device swathed in brushed aluminum - not to mention, as rumored, the Ville does look like it will check in at under 8mm thick.

  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
  • 8MP rear shooter (the same one that's reportedly in the Edge) with 1080p video

On what could possibly qualify as the most boring day of the year as far as Android news is concerned, a gem has finally surfaced: the seemingly official specs of the illusive Droid 4. We first caught a glimpse of the D4 last month, along with some suggested specs. If this leaked internal Verizon document obtained by Droid Life is to be believed, then most of the specs have now been realized.

Nobody is really sure what it means at the moment, but we definitely know the ad showing the Verizon Galaxy Nexus for $199.99 is real. As in, It's not fake since it's showing up on Android sites across the web (we've spotted it here at AP, at Phandroid, and DroidForums to name a few). These ads are run by NetShelter, which is a premium advertising network that deals directly with carriers and manufacturers and does not mess around - we know them all too well.

Clicking Learn More goes to this page that doesn't list the Galaxy Nexus, so either ...

Thanksgiving is over, but you know what that means - Black Friday is now officially in full effect, and we're seeing some pretty good deals, some of which are getting snatched up in mere seconds (cough, $199.99 Toshiba Thrive).

One of such BF deals is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc X12 with AT&T 3G frequencies for $319.99. The MSRP is listed at $549.99, and the price before today was somewhere around $370, so if you're looking for a slim and sexy Android Gingerbread device without signing a contract, this phone may very well be for you.

android wifi tether
25

In the last couple of days, I've been closely interacting with Harald Mueller, the developer behind Android Wi-Fi Tether for root users, a free and open source tethering app for Android. Android Wi-Fi Tether is pretty much a de-facto app when when it comes to tethering on Android devices that have native Wi-Fi tethering disabled (thanks, carriers), and is what I consider one of the most important apps in our supposedly open ecosystem.

In my correspondence with Harald, I have brought up 2 specific issues that have been on my mind for a while now, and to my surprise, ...
