PR-ASUS-Eee-Pad-Transformer-Prime-front-Amethyst-Gray_thumb1

While we have basically all of the info about the ASUS Transformer Prime, we are missing one of the most important details of all: the release date. ASUS has yet to unveil this last detail, but Newegg is pegging the Prime for a December 8th release date on its pre-order page.

While Newegg is usually a pretty reliable source that isn't quick to just slap a random date on device pre-orders, I would still take this with a grain of salt until ASUS makes the announcement itself. Of course, this date is definitely within reason, as ASUS has already told us to expect the official unveiling in early December. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Hope this is happening...just got a $50 for $25 from Google Offers for NewEgg. Look for it if you use Google Offers.

    • Ryuuie

I think you mean 20 for 40 and I got that too.

      $459 Prime is absolute awesome.

      • Steve

Actually it depends how you read it, he got $50 for the cost of $25.

      • Donnie

You mean $479 cause you had to spend $20, but $479 is still a really good deal.

        • Me

I bought 12 Newegg coupons from Google Offers so a $259 Prime is even more awesome :)

only problem is as of jan. 2012 asus is still trying to fix wifi and gps issues and even their own pre-order dept. won't commit to a release date of the "fixed" units other than saying maybe sometime in early february 2012. they had better hurry as the 3g model has a release date of march. i feel for those who got the first few units as now they will have to deal with asus, send them back for repairs or replacements depending on how the company decides to deal with those units.

Best Buy in Canada has had it at the 5th for over a week now. I pre-ordered it there last week and it still hasen't changed the date. If you go by current rumors December 8 may be the biggest release day for Android all year. Verizon Galaxy Nexus, Droid 4, and Transformer Prime all rumored for 12/8. I find this quite odd.

    • Misofine

@John: then I will be SEVERELY broke on 12/8...

      • djembeman

Hahaha!!! That's me LOL'ing. I would get the Droid 4 and the Asus Transformer Prime if I didn't already have the Droid Bionic. I'm trying to decide, if I would pay $650 for an Asus TF Prime (32GB w/ keyboard dock), or should I spend like $300 or so more and get a MacBook Air instead?

        • http://www.focuszonedevelopment.com Aaron

Are you really asking that question here? REALLY?

I think the choice is quite obvious: get the Transformer Prime as noted and send me the extra $300. I'll even send you a self-addressed, self-stamped envelope.

        • djembeman

Yes!! My whole dilemma is whether or not I want a Tablet that sorta transforms into a partially functioning NetBook. I haven't bought off on the whole tablet thing yet and MacBook Airs are amazingly powerful sleek, extremely portable machines.

@djembeman I was on the same fence with the original Transformer - so I bought just the tablet. I bought the keyboard dock a few months later because I couldn't type to save my life on a tablet screen size. Also, the additional battery which effectively doubles battery life is worth it alone -- and nobody says the dock has to be connected all the time.
