Google Music support was just announced for the Android Market. You can preview and buy music right on your phone! Right now you are probably asking "How can I get it?!"

Well, normally we would have an APK download for you, but this update is totally server side. Anyone running Market 3.3.11 is ready to use the Music Market. Google is it out to accounts right now. If it doesn't work for you, just have to wait. Sorry.

Mine did update though, So I might as well show you some screenshots.

It looks exactly like the market does now, the music section is just orange. You can buy tracks and listen to 90 second previews, depending on the song. If you click "buy" everything works exactly as it does in the normal market, except the music gets synced to your Google Music account instead of the Market.

See? Exactly like the Market, just Orange.

Actual album pages look a little different than your standard Market page. In the grey section is the buy album button. At the top of the list there are the individual songs, which you can tap on for previews. In line with the songs are individual buy buttons, if you only want a certain track. Below that is the normal Market stuff, ratings, comments, etc. Some pages are special and have a video and a description at the top of all this.

So that's the new Music Market. Like we said earlier, there's nothing you can do to make it update. Just wait and the music will come.

My Market doesn't show a music tab.

      Cool reading skills, brah.

I don't have it either, and I have Market version 3.3.11 like the article suggests... I go Apps, Books Movies... No Music....So guess I gotta wait a bit longer...

I'm not too concerned though, not really planning on buying music from Google (sorry).... I've got Spotify & can listen to (almost) any track I want for free whenever I want... Kinda like how Netflix (& the then dollar rentals of Redbox & Blockbuster Express - though granted, no technical access to those movies on the Android device) keep me from using the movie market.

  • SDL

    Don't you mean 3.3.11 instead of 3.3.1.1?

    • Ron Amadeo

      ...Yes.
      Fixed. Thanks.

      • SDL

No problem. It confused me for a second.

My Google Music program tries to update, but I just get "Package file was not signed correctly."

    What gives? :|

    • Ron Amadeo

Delete the music2 apk from /data/app or uninstall it from the market and try again.
If you installed our leaked ICS version you probably have to delete it.

      • Christo

What's the version of the "proper" new Music APK?

        • kaoruAngel

          4.0.9

  • Samir Shah

    hey guys,
just wondering if this is only applicable to people in the US? or can we Australians use it too? Any Aussie with the Google music thingy?

  • http://turbofool.com TurboFool

That's what happened to me. I immediately realized, deleted it with Titanium, rebooted, and was able to install the new one from the market.

Sadly, no Music market for me yet. Hopefully soon. Not that I need an excuse to spend money right now...

I just wish they had fixed the various issues from Beta such as the "three accounts" issue or the App not installing properly. I have spent months just trying to get Google Music to work with zero luck and zero feedback from Google. I am a huge Google fan but Google Music so far has been garbage.

  • UKAndroid

Strictly for the USA and its dependents.

The rest of the World will have to wait.

  • kaoruAngel

Too bad the music market website won't let me actually buy anything. It keeps prompting me to sign-in again.

(Note: I have only tried to purchase the free songs so far.)

  • Keith

Why do so many albums have songs missing? Like this: http://goo.gl/peHal and this:http://goo.gl/larFQ WTF is up with that?

    • http://www.AndroidPolice.com Artem Russakovskii

They show up for me. Maybe it's taking a while for all the songs to go live for some.

  • commanderastig

woohoo!!!! got the music tab in the market working for me on my dell streak baby!!! very sweet!!

  • HeavyD

For us the rest of the world means Place of dragons and mystical creature :| why we should hate USA :|

  • Nino64

No update for me dam u Google hurry up T.T

What about people with devices like the HTC Sensation that seems to have issues talking to the Google servers? I mean my market was still on 2.3.6 until I finally got sick of the run around from HTC and Google and downloaded the 3.3.11 APK. Does that mean I have to wait until the next Market APK to use Music on my phone?

  • Khoff

You would think that Google would sync the Google Music with the android market so it shows up there the same day as the announcement. Still not seeing it on my Market app, how long do we have to suffer????

  • Falconator

Nothing on mine either...tried installing Google Music and rebooting but nada!

    EDIT: DInc2

  • Ron

I purchased an album today from the online google music website. It still hasn't synced to my devices yet. My market still doesn't have the music section yet. Is that why it hasn't synced yet? I bought the music 6 hours ago.

    • Marco

You probably need to refresh your music in the google music app.

Go to Settings, then click on "Refresh" - this should update the music list on your device. You might also want to make sure that you can see all available music, and not just the offline stuff.

      • Ron

Thanks. I tried refreshing. Still no music. Hopefully running CM7 isn't the reason?? Or perhaps it won't sync until the music purchase option appears in the market?

        • http://nope me

Make sure you're not using Music 4.0.1 (the leaked ICS version). You have to completely uninstall it and then reinstall 4.0.9 from the market for it to work. I bought the free stuff and it appeared within 10 minutes, and I have 15k songs in my lib.

  • Mike

Clearing data from market and music (manage applications) worked for me.

  • AEF

I didn't have music in my Market - but I was playing around with it and I went into settings and changed the content filter setting and it showed up - just like that

  • Falconator

I'm not seeing music selection still but after force closing and reloading the market, i am now seeing music artists like busta rhymes and Rolling Stones. They had some free songs that I grabbed and all is good for me.

  • Jonathan

Uhm, so I bought an album off the android market and it is no where to e kind any where on my phone, google music, or anything. I then go to the android market and hit "listen" an it says it's syncing but then it always says "there was a problem lapsing your music" WTF is wrong with this? I just spent 4.99 and can't listen to shit.

    • robert mitchell

did you ever get tthis solved? i'm having the same issue - G2
