The YouTube app just received an update to bring a few new features, including a +1 button, "watch later" queue, and the ability to upload while editing video info, along with one unexpected issue. The app description now says it's for Android 2.2-2.3.3, and, as a result, isn't showing up on devices running other versions, including Honeycomb tablets. Despite this, I was able to pull the update on my Incredible running CM7 (Android 2.3.7), although Artem couldn't even see YouTube in the Market on his stock rooted Epic 4G Touch (Android 2.3.4).

I'm sure that Google will push a quick fix to this, but in the meantime you can grab the apk from here and sideload it without issues.

Well, Honeycomb's YouTube is very different from Gingerbread's at the moment. It shouldn't be Honeycomb-compatible.

Thanks for the apk link. That is the ONLY way the GS2 Epic 4 Touch will update YouTube.

Why are you providing a link to an application that has been reported to have multiple issues on multiple phones. This update has been a tremendous failure on Google's part.

  • Jon

Forgot to mention. Avoid at all costs or you will be forced to delete the update to return to an older version.
This update will remove the ability to play while on standby(this is the issue i had personally). Other reported issues include pauses mid stream that will not resume without reloading the entire video, it will now thoroughly invade your privacy by retrieving your likes contacts etc, issues with signing in with yahoo accounts, playing the wrong videos etc. etc. etc.
I don't really think I need more to convince you, stay away from this update at all costs.

When I try to follow the link to the apk, I get a message that the file is unavailable after I click the link. I finally found a spot where I downloaded it; it was an "ilividsetupv1" file, but my phone says that there is no application present on my phone to open it. Any help would be appreciated. I'm using a Samsung Epic 4g Touch, Galaxy S II.
