Improving on existing TTS technology, Loquendo (a Nuance company) is showing the world that "even computers can show their feelings," with a huge array of TTS engines that are not only more advanced, but significantly more dynamic than existing alternatives.

The bad news is that only two of these engines are currently available for Android – Italian TTS Paola and American English TTS Susan. That being said, we can still hope that more of Loquendo's engines will be adapted for Android, and, in the meantime, Loquendo's website has amazing demos of all its TTS voices, both static and interactive.

I use Susan, and "she" is absolutely fantastic. At times she sounds real, and at others a bit robotic, but what Loquendo has done is truly impressive.

To be honest, it does sound fairly good. However I still have to side with SVox. Their engine and their voices are pretty good. Plus they have a wide variety of voices and languages. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portugese, Spanish, American English, British English. Forgiving the gag voices they have in the American English, the engine and the voices are fairly good. However the voices are about 12-25MB a piece, even if can entirely sit on your SD card.

Hm it does sound really good. But I still prefer ivona tts, it sounds more realistic then svox and this one.

Loquendo's voice Kate (UK english) is great, I wish it'd come to Android. Used to have it for navigation on windows mobile

Definitely no better than SVOX and the music they have in the background is obviously used to cover the shortcomings on the voice.

It is used to prevent stealing the voice.

To me, Loquendo does sound more natural than SVox or Ivona, at least in the brief time I've tested them.

After playing with Ivona and Loquendo a bit, I still like SVOX Grace the best. Her voice is soothing.

Loquendo's Susan is absolutely amazing but for some reason no longer available on Google Play.

As a rule I try to avoid anything which isn't free/open source software. Unfortunately, Espeak isn't very good quality and Festival/Flite is just starting to come to Android. See: https://github.com/happyalu/Flite-TTS-Engine-for-Android/wiki
