Android's Google+ app just got updated to version 2.1.1., bringing back the popular posting widget, which allows users to post updates and photos on the fly right from their home screen.

Besides that, the new update brings fixes for download and installation issues, and various bug fixes. If you've been missing the Google+ posting widget, your wish has just been granted. Head to the market and grab the update!

The widgets for the tablet are different. they suck. this update only brought the original widget but only for the phones.

    • jake

At least it brought them back - there were no other widgets on phones anymore.

  • Pete

I had to clear Market cache data before the G+ 2.1.1 update would install. Might be cos Market also just got updated to 3.3.11 today on my Nexus S in Australia.

Unfortunately if you have app on sd card you will not be able to see widget after update. You need to move app baeck to phone to be able to see and use widget. Hopefully they will fix this soon.

No widgets reliably work when their parent apps are installed to SD. It's a limitation of Android.

Oooh! Where can I get that lovely nexusish wallpaper!

    • MrDrumngun

Seriously! I am very intrigued by this wallpaper too.

It came stock with the Epic 4G Touch - I've been trying to track it down on the phone for you guys, but I just can't find where the wallpapers reside on here.

First Google app with ICS screenshots in the Market?

    It's coming!...

  • MrDrumngun

I was really hoping that wallpaper was live. :(

  • bestandroid

g+ is excellent but we need best widget showing stream. Why not like seesmic or genie widget for < android 4 and scrollable widget for 4+
    Wait for create hangout....

  • Esteban

The Widgets for the tablet are scrollable. There is one for G+ photos, and another for G+ Posts. But the Phone widget doesn't show up for the tablet even though before the update it did.

  • bestandroid

oh thank you for this information effectively widgets work well on tablet (lack of transparency and time of messages)
waiting for android 4 to take advantage of these wigdets on mobile ...
Wait for hangout creation (and equivalent of sparks)
its me or on the web there has no equivalent for chat+, we can not send a chat + message from the web? or view the history of this chat ...
But Good job Google, continue, very excited for this features mostly to create hangout from android

  • Robodroid

That wallpaper is really nice. May I have a link where I can download it please?

    • js

You really should read through the comments before posting.

      • Robodroid

Hmm I agree :) Sometimes I only focus on the story :)

    What's the live wallpaper called?
The diagonal, digital Nexus-based one in the left screenshot.

Update: It's a static image, someone should clone it and make it into a live wallpaper. Maybe someone should ask the guy behind Nexus Revamped!

A new post I made on G+ today... hope someone at Android has time to look into this, even leave a reply...

  • Chris

Widgets like this are pointless to me, all they do is link to sections of the app. If I need to post, I click on the G+ shortcut. If I want a picture on G+, I uploaded it after taking it... It ends up just being a waste of real estate.

So the app downloads fine but states that the package is not signed correctly. I'm guessing Google signs their packages correctly and its my phone. Ideas? CM7.1, T-mo G2

OK. Got it. Delete and reinstall from market. Clearing App Data did not work either. No worries.
